how much is a 1964 mini worth? SOLD

Well many moons back we sold the 1963 Morris Mini-minor that we were going to restore to a local garage for £500, genuine 18k on the clock and was solid as a rock just with cosmetic damage and mechanical overhaul required.

That was about 11 years back so i can only imagine they've increased in price since. However being non original may have an impact and the fact that it sounds like its better as parts?

i'd say about £300-500 but ebay it and it'll go for daft money

Might be better to say how much your nan has sold it for and ask if that is considered a fair price ?

the back isn't rotted "off" as such, just the boot lid/floor is like lace. Basically it's been in an open front barn for 20-30 years because it failed it's MOT due to rust in the 80's. So basically the back of the car has been fairly open to the weather but the front is pretty dry. The doors and still open, and lock, and shut, pretty smoothly lol. The plate is worth something, but like someone else said the car isn't MOTable without a fairly major restoration. She's agreed to sell it for £200 because in her eyes that was a ridiculous price for a rusty old banger that the guy wouldn't accept (we specifically told her not to sell it) and the guy bit her hand off apparently, which is why I'm suspicious. The car was used in rallys, hence why the engine was bored out and it has twin carbs.

with minors its a gamble, i do buy them to sell on. unless its a splity or series 2 it is only worth something if its viable. plates as mentioned attract a little interest, but atm they are rarely worth more than what it costs you. you could take plate off but u'll never sell it before you get stung for continuing retention. flip fronts don't normally make much money on there own as there are plenty out there. i sell moted minors now and again just under a grand to attract the newbie classic scene. as such £200-300 for car needing couple of hundred spending on it to get it on road is my budget. i pay about 800-1000 for a traveller than is sound requiring litttle or no work and put up for 2ish. though last one i had was steal at auctions and paid 1100 for a tested very tidy traveller and sold following day for 2 and half

8 years ago I sold a 1964 rolling shell for £500. Remember, there's not much of a Mini you cant buy.
You expect the boot floor rotted out on a 90's one, so that's quite normal. The early Mk1's were made of better steel too. If I was offered that for £200 I'd think all my christmases had come at once, but I'd feel too guilty and pay her a lot more than that. Without knowing what spec or period bits are on it, I'll say a base price of £500 is it's value. For instance, it could have Cooper S brakes which fetch £350 for reconditioning, a dash full of Speedwell gauges @ £500, Les Leston steering wheel £250-£400.
Please tell her to cancel him, get some good pics up and get her some good money for it.

ive had 2 minors go thro my unit within the past 12 months, both of them needed major, but not impossible welding done to them, both on mid 60's plates, both cars were purchased for under 120quid each from different people.
if your nans happy to let it go for 200 quid, and someone thinks theyve got a a good deal then thats how the world works, its better than asking 500quid for it and it sitting for another 10 years!

a bit more history about the car I have found out, that it was used as a disabled persons car when it was new (and kitted out accordingly apparently), and was then flip fronted and tuned up (bored out, twin carbs, wider front end etc) for rallying in the mid 60s, before returning to domestic road use in the late 60s which was when it was purchased by my grandparents, until it failed its MOT in 1981. And its sat in the barn untouched ever since that.

Yeah, that's really not too bad as mini's go rust wise. I've seen 80's minis with more rust, and they still get saved.
