sweet, so do you reckon that £1500ono is about okay? I have the log book, and the floorpan looks solid except the boot section, very little rust on the bulk head too it would seem, it's also watertight since we washed it after we got it out, before washing it looked like this... and it has an Astrali steering wheel, if that's worth anything?

Might be worth putting up a valuation thread on www.theminiforum.co.ukSome really helpful people over there, and they would be extremely interested by this. At least putting the e-Bay link up, when you have put it on, in their e-Bay link section would also help it to be seen

don't put a price on it, run it as an auction, £1 start, no reserve. Get as many keywords in the title as you can, loads of pics and details in the ad and sit back and watch the bids come in.

That looks more solid than the '93 mini i'm currently restoring. Difficult to put a value on it though, as has been said already. Ebay is probably the best way to sell it. Cool old car though, would be nice to see it restored rather than broken for parts.

Take the steering wheel off it and have that for yourself (to remind you of the mini / your nan) and stick any old looking one on it. Then put it on ebay at a fixed price of £1500 with offers allowed. Take the 1st offer over £1000 that actually asks serious questions about the car 1st. You wont get messed around, your nan can have a holiday and you also get a cool old steering wheel! I love the look of the mini too, pity it will be like swiss cheese as some dished minilites on that and it would rule! PS - those roofracks are £30-40 each on VW forums

that gear linkage is an aftermarket SPQR kit, which TBH were curse word, but i see its got the orginal cover which makes it uber rare to have the matching cover.
I'd sell the gearlinkage and cover separately for extra dollar

Based on a car a friend bought, I'd say about £500. It is a pre hydro mk 1 and if it has all the docs and matching numbers then that is worth somthing.
The things that determin the value of these are the condition of the shell, especially the rare panels such as the rear screen, and the conduition of the basic mechanical items. Optional extras tend to be ignored in these cases.

As already posted I'd say eBay as well, I wouldn't take anything off the car as it all 'adds' to what will get bid on. A Mini person would price up the bits they won't use and know what they can get for them which will reduce the price they pay you (I've done this with Bugs in the past). I wouldn't accept an offer or have a 'buy it now' price, just state in th elisting that the auction will run to the end & take plenty of photo's, maybe open a photobucket account & add the link to the listing, that way you're not paying eBay for loads of photo's When I first saw this thread a week or two back I thought upwards of £500 going on your description but I reckon double that given the condition, I've seen worse Mini's restored so it'll make a great project. Let us know how you get on & best of luck with the sale.

Just a thought. I wonder how many people in this thread would come on here posting an 'I'm very annoyed' thread after they had agreed a purchase of an old car for a good price and then had the seller renege on the deal because someone told them it was possibly worth more? Just sayin'. Happened to me before.........& will probably happen again, it's the way life is.

Rather than just throwing it on eBay straight away, now that the value for it seems to be £800-1500 to the people commenting (I wouldn't know the value, not into Minis), get back in touch with the original seller and say that after appraisel of the car and the period parts included, the price will have to be higher. He may well still bite at a higher price, he may want the car to restore and he'd be far happier to be given the opportunity than to just see it thrown on eBay.

IMO I'd leave it exatly at it is.. Only asked for after pics, as he said he had washed it Ahh.. Didn't read that, sorry. Also, largely for the reason Panda mentions, I personally wouldn't be contacting the original buyer. If I'd agreed to buy something for £200, then it was withdrawn from sale, then the seller called me to say I could have it for £1500 I'd tell him to shove it. Note: I don't think you've done anything wrong - it's your right as the owner of an item to change your mind about selling it. I'm sure the guy knew very well he was getting a bargain and probably isn't all that surprised you changed your mind
