As so many have said in the past I am new to posting here but have been admiring the cars on here for years. It is only now that I have something worthy of these pages though.
The car in question started off as an Ebay impulse purchase that spent 2 years sitting around until a plan for it emerged. After a deal which ended up with me owning a couple of Porsche 968 CS racing buckets the plan became quite clear. It was only appropriate to turn this rusty ald Supra into a retro racer with an emphasis on bad assery!!!
The Supra is a rather nice start point if I'm honest because of the 2.8 inline 6 upfront, an LSD out back and independent suspension all round. the supra needed to be a touch wider so the next step was to put some banded steels on, 10.5 inch at the back and 9.5 inch at the front. From this point a new set of arches could be fabricated to make the car look a little broader.
A roll cage was welded in by the chaps at Geronimo Cages to stiffen up the rather flop body and then a couple of other additions like the plastic windows and Le Mans style filler in the rear window were added.
This was the morning of the Supra's first somewhat competitive event at the BNG Blackpool sprint along the north shore. We had spent the weekend playing with it and were surprised by the car that had been created out of a rot box.
The Green mk1 Escort is a friends and was taking part in the same event... That thing is hiding a supercharged 1600 crossflow and would be the car we wanted to beat.
Was a cracker of a day and in the end the 'scort owned the supra by only 1/10th.
I hope you like the ald Girl and I will try to put up some build pics, a few action pics and maybe a couple of interior shots.
Thanks for looking!!
