As some of you already know, this arrived in the stable last week, freebie with many thanks to needabeetle. Lots of work to be done but thankfully little rot, this is the 2500cc straight six with the manual overdrive gearbox. Been looking at the stance a bit, with the help from a friend... We shall see. ;D But I'm missing some parts. Roll on a Royale donor car... (Do people like these wheels?) More updates as and when.

Hey, great choice, these things are like hen's teeth! Not sure what your plans are but I would reccomend totally stock-looking but lowered a little- it'll already look meanacing and important without any mods! As for the wheels - they are one of my favourite designs. I've got a huge soft spot for Royale/Senator/Viceroys and the rims look absolutely bob-on. Look foward to seeing the progress on this one!

Ah so it was you who saved it - well done! Like Barrett said, virtually stock but low would be excellent. Might look good with deleted rubbing strips etc too, although it looks like the strips sit in a swage.

The Royale wheels are 14". If you get the same wheels off an early Monza, they should be 15". The only other difference apart from the size is that the Royale wheels have coloured inserts, wheras the Monza wheels are all silver.
Viceroy is a very rare car indeed, basically a mk1 Carlton with the straight six engine. Live axle on those i think too.
Will the 2.8 Royale engine be finding its way into the Viceroy? Would be rude not to! You could always find a Senator or Monza donor car and chuck a 3.0 in it, but you'd also have to convert to fuel injection too.

The Royale's engine is stuck with standing but I reckon it'll undo, it's only done 35K so should be alright for a long time!

My god these things are rare! I would leave it fairly stock, if it were mine. I absolutely love the Royale wheels! Always have. My grandfather had a Senator in the late 'seventies - I loved it and it was super plush! Are there many Opel Commodores (the the Opel version of the Viceroy) left in the UK? - They were always rare cars, even back in the early 'eighties. I saw a Vauxhall Viceroy at the Tatton car show this year in the same colour. It is such a rare car I had to take a photograph. I'm so glad this is being saved. David

If you are splitting the Royale...I'm looking for a drivers-side rear suspension arm....maybe both sides.

Kudos to you for saving it. Those are very very rare cars, I saw it on eBay and was THIS close to bidding until I woke up and realized that trying to restore an intact PA in this country is hard enough, that car would be a nightmare to try and restore over here (Looks like I am paying £33 to ship some PA wheeltrims over as an example!)
I'm flying over to Billing next year, if business goes well enough I might even bring my PA, I would love to see that car there.

I've just had a look at the Royale workshop manual regarding removing the rear trailing arms and it looks like as well as having to lower the back axle to get in at the front bolts once they are actually off you need special pullers and things to dismantle the hubs....if you needed to replace the bearing for example heavy rust scale where rear spring sits on trailing arm. would be nice to get it off car onto bench and sandblast/repair or replace arm with a better one

Good to see you have saved such a rare car, but sad to see the royale bite the dust - the one I had was also on a t plate and a saloon, but in aquamarine blue.
If you are thinking of dropping in the royales' motor, get rid of that crappy solex carb - they are a swine to set up and even when they are in rude health the fuel consumption is dire.

Alternatively 8 bolts and hey presto I did mine 5 years ago and and it still looks as good as this Bear in mind good ones can change hands for up to £300 each side
