I've never seen a 318-powered mid-engined Isabella Combi. Just saying.

Excellent! It won't fit without major surgery to pretty much everything! Phew! That was a close one! I'm won't be spending this winter doing another unusual engine swap after all.... Read your own signature and have another little think. I'm very happy to come and hand you the spanners, boil the kettle and make helpful comments along the 'did you mean to cut that bit off?' line... ;D

I love it when a plan doesn't come together ;D
I had a load of hairbrained schemes about a flathead V8 in a Pop with nothing more than a shortened torque tube, bigger banjo axle and some different brake cables. It all looked like it would work on paper with little cutting and lots of bolt on modifications.
Luckily, when I got the tape measure out it wasn't even close ;D

The Mopar small blocks are pretty bulky, however you could follow the earlier direction taken by Rootes and use a small-block Ford. This might be an easier swap, not sure about whether you'll get the box in without trans tunnel chopage though.

There was a Hunter here in Aus with a 265 Hemi Straight 6 that ran into the 11s down the 1/4 with a Nitrous hit. Driveline was Borg Warner 35 Autobox and stock Hunter diff. Never been able to find a photo of it though, best I can come up with was some online traces of the owner 4 or 5 years ago. Not sure you got the Hemi 6s over there though?? What about a 'leaning tower of power' slant 6? V8s are overrated anyway.

Buy a 60's Humber Super Snipe. A small-block Mopar lump was fitted from the factory (the Imperial prototype) and I'd love to see a replica outside the A.V.G....

Not sure you got the Hemi 6s over there though?? Never seen/heard of one in the UK, they seem to have been exclusively antipodean V8s are overrated anyway. Nothing sounds as good as a V8 though

All engine bay's will take a v8 and should be made to ;D
It's only the pesky bulkhead thats usually in the way and half an hour with a couple of friendly 1mm cutting disks solves the problem ;D

Yup, just the bulkhead. And therefore heater. And master cylinders. And steering perhaps. And..... I think its one of those things I'd love to do and make look factory. A funky straight six could be cool too Sammmm. I have an excuse to not right now that I hope will meet Benzboys approval
