well its in and it runs. had a bit of a probleb with half of the front thrust washer deciding it would move before i put the crank pully on - and stupidly i didnt try and turn it over until i had it in the car.... so a quick strip down of the timing cover and i rested it back in (its a bad bit of design in that the crank pulled pushes it all up, and until the crank pulley is on the washer can do what it likes...maing it hard to fit the timing chain, cog, and cover.
all is done now... so, tomorow morning i will set it up, fit the bonnet, adjust the headlamps, do the tyre pressures and check levels... then off we go to drop it off for the mot.
i will keep you posted!
p.s. cheers for all the support and advice.

thanks guys! parked it on the drive to see if i had managed to fix the leaks (wet drivers seat, passenger foot well, drivers door card (wtf!)) and sure enough the rain came down.... but it didnt leak!!!! wey hey!! also got on with the exhast manifold for my college project - pretty much finished it now: i know it doesnt flow too well compared to some (although I'm sure its better than anything reliant made!), but its the best i could do with the amount of room i have, and the lack of a pipe bender (all bends are cut and welded - even the 90degree ones at the top) except the downpipe, which i stole from a scimitar which had half an exhuast. i am soon going to start work on the rest of the exhuast, which will be a single 1.75" pipe to the back, with one box from the old 2 box scimitar setup I'm canibalising. i also orderd the bots to lower it, so pics soon of the lowering bits... and a lowerd kitten! (have to lower it so the exhaust can pass underneath the axle. so, will be back in bits soon.... don't your worry! Nick p.s. i am after a renault 5 carb (solex 32DIS) is anyone can help.

Nice one Nick, what a mission you have been on! Like BlownImp said, it was bore washing that caused my rings to fail and it had only been over rich for a week or so and even then it wasnt that rich - but lesson learned!
The manifold looks tidy as well Top work 75849394858353592/10

a bit of work today, mainly just cleaning up the old air box and painting it in hammerite primer, and finished triming the last bit on the C post (ooo yea cord!) also popped over to the spares shed and grabbed the rest of the scimitar exhuast ready for modifying. heres a picture of the interior seeing as its bassically finished (although the pic is out of date) and here are some pictures of when the previous owner bought it, about 15 years ago. and check out his drive!!
