Damn. How did I forget the first "computer-aided" car jump...?! In a similar celluloid vein, don’t have the famous bridge jump to hand, but this “sh1t-box Dodge” is off the ground…

Here's a challenge for anyone who wants to take it up: There was a magazine ad in the 1980's advertising genuine Ford parts (I think...). It showed a rallying Mk2 Escort getting airborne, then the second pic beneath shows the same car with the suspension collapsed having hit the ground. I tried to Google it, and I'm damned if I'm going in the loft to "IRL Google" through all the old mags... Anyone have it, or at least know the ad I mean? 1000 Internet Points if you can.

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

This rings a bell, albeit a very quiet one… I vaguely remember seeing an ad for the MKI Escort (I think) in a classic car mag years ago as part of a feature on, I think Roger Clark…? Can’t remember exactly what the image or copy was, although the car(s) was / were airborne… Seem to remember the story was that Clark was drafted in to do the driving (and jumping!) although this seems unlikely now... The article reckoned the car used for the shoot was completely standard and after a couple of jumps the strut tops were pushing the bonnet up. Just spent a fruitless hour on Google with no results. Really want to see it now! Have a flying P1800 by way of apology for being so vauge.

I have a repressed memory bubbling to the surface about that one - I remember seeing the ad in an issue of CCC in '81. I'll be darned if I can remember where the mag is though...
