Hiyer, some of you may know me from my mk1 that was at the gathering, if not youll soon learn i like low stuff Ive been itching to get a rwd car for a while and really really wanted a daihatsu charmant, they are so stupidly rare i gave up and started looking at other stupid ideas which really were terrible. Then the thursday before the gathering i found a ke70 on ebay an managed to pick it up pretty cheap. Its got a 1.3 4k and a 5spd box in it. LOADS of trim missing, no bumpers, dents everywhere, nasty graffiti all over it and bones in the glovebox (yeah really!). Plans are 5k on 40s with a 300 degree cam (if i can get hold of a 5k) or a 4age. 4age's seem like the obvious choice but from stuff ive read it looks like you need loads of ae86 stuff to make them fit (not good). Does anyone know if my 5spd will bolt up to a 4age or not? I'm new to this whole toyota thing haha. looks plans involve as low as possible with full lock and the car still moving, rivet on arches and 9 and 10.5 x 13 mamba solars. Should look pretty sweet and be fun for sliding around. now on with the pics. The car had been sitting for around 11 years so naturally it had been pretty much used as a skip haha! rusty water filled wheel well that wasnt rotten some of the paint on the side lol mmm lovely more junk, nintendo games?! lol filler rust fail JDM mario kart! And thats all for now. any help on motor ideas would be super. Ill probably take the springs out next weekend so it makes me want to work on it..

Good on you for taking this on. I like it a lot already, got patina How the fcuk is that wheel well not fubar? My e21 would kill for a boot so full of metal. Take it yours was the seriously low blue mk1, good work if so and I'll look forward to watching this one come along.

box won't fit, you need a T50 from an AE86 or something. If you want it as low as your golf, i guess it's time to look into short stroke front coilover conversions . I can lay my Corolla (which has AE86 suspension, similar to facelifted KE70 stuff) on it's subframe and still wind down the coilovers Your Golf looked awesome, i'm looking forward to see how this comes out! Probably get some hate from the purists, but it looks like it was on it's way out anyway, so you're going to SAVE one instead of ruining one! They should be happy!

Cheers guys, its definately getting saved haha. The rot really is exterior stuff, the floors in the car are fine, which is pretty surprising.
The wheel well makes NO sense at all, i mean the spare was orange!
The suspension is looking like the easy part really at the moment. just need a motor so itll actually be able to get used for what i bought it for..

yeah, tuning K's is expensive, but then again, a whole working AE86 isn't exactly cheap either...

is the lite ace the only thing i can get a 5k from? I might just get this 4k running for now and go from there, needs a fuel pump (it fires if you put fuel in the carb).

In the UK the only thing I've seen a 5k in is a liteace & forklift trucks!, although I have heard some early carina's had them as well. 5k's are around, but are getitng harder to find & if you want a big cam in it, you'll need to convert it from hydraulic cam followers to solid ones, or it really won't like it.

why not use a european engine? BMW supplies perfects 4 pots with 5 boxes in rwd layout?
I remember thomas (The Doctor) taking on tuning a 4k, but that only ran for a couple of hours and it had cost a fortune to build.

fuel pump, try to get a 2K one, you can service them. I had one, but i gave it away to a mate, who also had fuel pump problems

ill take the fuel pump out later, but I'm pretty sure ill be able to use a 2 bolt vw one as the holes are the same spacing.
no offense to bmw but their 4 pots aren't really what i want. If I'm going to that much effort of making stuff fit id put a 3GSE (beams engine) in it.
What gearboxes will work with a 4age? These engines are everywhere and are obviously proven drift engines.
If its only ae86 gearboxes i might aswell put a ford set up in cos itll be cheaper haha

Fuel pumps are cheap enough to buy new, or let me know your address & I've probably got one somewhere. 4k's can be made to go well-that's what I'm doing with mine, decent cam, head work, 4 branch & twin 40's. 100bhp is achievable, not huge but fun in a lightweight car.

I'm gonna pick up an electric pump in the week (will need it for carbs anyhow) and see if i can get it running properly.
I'm so tempted to get silly with the 4k, i like little screamers (like my polo gt motor on 40s in the mk1).
No pics but i bought some stuff to make replacement windows out of earlier so ill report back when more progress has been had.
ps if anyone has parts which they think are usefull. please say haha.

I've got a couple of K series Cam's, not 100% sure what profiles, but can have a look if you're interested? Or Kent will regrind your existing for about £100 to whatever profile you want. You don't need an electric pump to run big carbs, I'm going to be running a standard mechanical lift pump to run the twin 40's on mine.
