who did the lowering mate? how was it done? how much did it cost? sorry for the questions but i have a r100 that looks like its on stilts, that i want to lower and make handle. it needs dropping and a set of banded steels on it. i cant go wild with the power for insurance reasons, so want fun handling and breaking.
cheers neil.

It has been done properly. The gas was let out by someone who knew what they were doing in a garage with the proper equipment. What, he opened the valve and let all the gas out - how much did he charge? Good luck come MOT time.

Doing it properly involves taking out the units and cutting the tubes where the balljoint sits. On the last Maxi I had I cheated by letting the fluid out with a proper churchill pump. 2 weeks later the bottom arm parted company with the subframe. Looked sh*t hot though till that happened.

not keen on the tights but slam it ftw ;D Good start but needs to go lower and why not go for 13's instead of 12's? cheaper tyres ftw. I wanna go lower just worried coz as said it messes up the handling and will ride like utter curse word, I think 13s will be to big and rub plus 12s mean more lows if put low profile tires on it ;D I thought the 12' revo's looked a little lost in the arch, but that could of just been the ride height, and I didnt know they did low-pro's in 12' size (13inch ones are bloody expensive!) Meh at how it handles, its a metro lol, mine bounces and bump steers all over the place, but it looks fugging good walking up to it when its sat low

It has been done properly. The gas was let out by someone who knew what they were doing in a garage with the proper equipment. Ummm, you don't actually let the gas out as it is in sealed units. You change the volume of fluid in the system to alter the pressure. It is a bit more involved than a 'normal' suspension as there are mechanical geometry ratios calculated into it and by lowering the pressure you will cock them up, but by cutting the ally towers in the displacers by the correct amount, then repressurising to original/slightly higher you maintain the correct geometry, meaning a cool looking car that handles a lot better than you would think. Mind you, that is one sweet looking 'Tro! ;D

It just looks like some fluid has leaked out the suspension.

Surely it's safer than chopping springs, which a lot of people do.

Chopping springs makes the suspension harder too, but letting fluid out of a hrdragas set-up makes the suspension softer. If the fluid's been let out then it will appear, as Bo11ox says, to look as if you've got a leak.

Yeh I must admit I do enjoy annoying people with my cars it was lowered at an MOT center by my mates dad so if there are any problems at MOT time will go to him plus he said nothing about it being a problem and I trust him as hes a professional. Maybe 13s would look better I'm not sure, I need to try some on it really to see how it looks ;D

Deflating your cans will ruin the ride and wear your cans out quite quickly - as above chop your push rods. It only took me half an hour to do ours (once they where removed). All you need is a hack saw and a file
13" wheels are fine, but I would recommend using 175/50 13 tyres as the standard size rubbed on our van - but that's bent which didn't help...
