Still cracking on, and made a start n the load bed. I bought 2 sheets of 1.5mm steel that were 2x1m and looked at how to cut them, landscape or portrait (probably the easiest way to describe it) and decided to go with landscape. This needs an extra cross brace as the sheet isn't big enough to span the gap, but it would have needed one lengthwise, and cross wise is probably easier! (Well, it is in my mind anyway!)So first off, there was a bit of the old load bed that needed to come out. Spot weld drill at the ready Rust treated The it was time to shape shaping. First up put in a 10mm fold that lines up with the edge. Hammer time Then a 20mm bend to meet the bulkhead And trial fit. I've added a bend for the other side, but only about 60 degrees for now, I'll finish it when it's ready to be welded in. And finally, joddler out and put in a run so I can overlap the next sheet and spot weld them together. It's getting there though the bulkhead bend is still about 10mm away from the bulkhead. Guess I'll be doing some massaging, as the area has taken few whacks in its time I did look at adding some ribs for strength, but I think once it's spot welded all round it'll be fine!

I would say mastic love this wagon! Love the escort too! Me to. Got to get this done and then I have no more excuses for not getting the Escort cracked!! I'm leaning that way as well, just in case I ever have to take it off again! Not quite there yet, but the decision point isn't far away!

Still bashing away. Literally So tonight, I made a start on the back half. First up I needed to get the front piece nice and flush to the bulkhead. Bash Bash Then onto the second sheet, and to start a 10mm bend to line up on the edge Then slide it on and mark up for the cuts as the sheet's too big for what I need. A trick I saw on Pinterest to mark up for an equal gap was to use a washer. It's actually to mark contours, but it gave me a 10mm line so I could cut and still have a decent fold. Then I cut out to match up where the sheet wasn't joddled, and slid it in. Blimey, I'm actually pretty impressed with myself there It's looking pretty neat Next up, I need to fold the back end. and then look at how I mark out for the engine cover. In fact. I need to think about how I'm going to do it, as I still want to get access from above, but it needs to be strong enough to put weight on, as well as sealing reasonably well to keep the elements out! Thanks for checking in, more tomorrow. Pete

Phew. Well took me a few days of on and off reading but really good reading! Well done for persevering and I'm in awe of that roller paint job. It's better than a lot of spray jobs!

Phew. Well took me a few days of on and off reading but really good reading! Well done for persevering and I'm in awe of that roller paint job. It's better than a lot of spray jobs! Well, thanks for sticking with it, and the compliment, It needs a fresh coat now really, at least at the front! It's a labour, that's for sure. Had the day off today so headed to the workshop early and cracked on with the load bed. There's a lot of hammering there, and my arm is killing me! In all the banging though, a couple of my previously welded floor bars came loose so I'm going to spend a bit of time practising tomorrow before I do any more! I did weld the new brace in; it ain't pretty, but it also ain't going anywhere! Oh, and some primer to finish off. More tomorrow, when it'll all be secured on (possibly )

Slowly getting there. I've finally got round to fitting the front end. It's not perfect and I'm going to need to go back and do some additional plug welds, but I just want it done now so..... The second coat of paint is on the sides as well, and dry. Again, less than perfect; I think the farmer has opened a dust factory and vented it into my workshop Again, not the end of the world, and some of it will polish out. Mojo boosting though I've also tracked down someone to make a frame and canopy for the back, so that's the way I'll be going..... Well, maybe More tomorrow.

Thanks JP. Well, a couple of weeks have passed and of course I've been plugging away. Decided to mastic the back half as the front is still a bit rattly Not easy on my own but it's on, and had a lick of paint. It'll get another coat and then topped off with rhino paint/load bed paint when it's all done. Then it was on to getting the sides mounted up. I need to find a away of securing them at the front, so had a search around and decided on some nice ally right angle. Bit of chopping and filing later and I mounted them up with some holes drilled and tapped to bolt them in place. Repeat on the other side And a photo of both in place. Next up is some paint for those, permanent fixing with some nice dome headed bolts or the bolt covers they use for kit cars and then mount up the tailgate.

Tent! And I managed to get hold of an ultra rare set of drawers for the under bed locker which I'll fit when I've given them a lick of paint and made up some suitable boxes for them.

just been through this full build, love it, stunning build up the borbets are the best looking wheel for a wedge, shame about the rear blenders for the lights never actualy realised the dokas rear panel was so different, keep thinking of buying blenders for my hightop but price to get a curse word set puts me off.
1 day I think ill get myself a doka
