After watching several episodes of 'Build or Bust' on Men and Motors, I've been thinking about building a bike. I've heard from a few people that you can order new bare frames from the states, but want to know if anyone knows of companies in the UK that can supply them? or can I just fabricate my own frame? Also, would I have to get the Bike through an SVA test before it's road legal? Any suggestions for a good doner bike? I've been thinking about a Triumph around the 1300cc mark.....? I'm thinking of a doing something a cross between this: and this: so it kinda looks like this: Thoughts / suggestions?

I'm loving build or bust at the moment. and its making me want to build a bike also. then i remember my nc30 is in pieces in the garage. as for suppliers in the UK i would suggest you pick up a copy of one of the UK bike mags, back street heroes is one i think. I cant for the life of me remember the names of the others.

or can I just fabricate my oven frame? ...depends if it's gas or electric...
|
|
... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

Jesse Rooke ;D His latest: My favorite: don't follow the herd and think out of the box ;D www.rookecustoms.comwww.exilecycles.com/bikes_brown_pearl.shtmlwww.chopsnbobbers.com/Chops are more about an Attitude than a type of bike, bobbers even more so... Do some research on the history of them and why they came about in the first place and how they evolved.... Gives you a far greater feeling for what you are trying to acheive...... Much better than buying a frame and raiding the custom chrome catalogue which is what the majority do That why there are so many similar looking Harley "Chops" out there Be back with more later ;D

These are astonishingly cool! I was gonna make a post about this kinda thing being waaay cooler than a 'mid-life-crisis' chrome-swathed chopper. I'd happily get back on the saddle for one of these.

Well Choppers is the sh*t!!!!!! I have built bikes like this for close to 30 years now, lately it has been mostly "Strippers", stripped down GSXR1000, RSV Mille, etc.... Building your own frame is not worth the effort it it's your first try. Do some swapmeet cruising and pick up an old Triumph frame and a Bonneville motor since you live over there on the rainy island, must be plenty & cheap. Bobber style is the most fun & doable for the least cash spent, skinny rear & front tires & rims cost about 1/3 of what one 200-tire & rim will run ya. An old springer, frame, some fenders, Cad 59 taillights, tractor headlight, moped peanut tank and a Bonneville 650cc motor will fly, sound & look nasty, go retro-bobber-rat-patina-stylee and you can't go wrong... Salinas Boys (blue) Bobber is the hottest IMO, Jesse Rooke is another of my favorite builders but the whole OCC & WCC scene is not my thing although Jesse has painted one of the bikes I have built, another hot builder i Zero Engeneering over in Japan www.zerochop.comDP says: Dig out some Britt stuff and build a Bobber.......

keefy in da house: could you post some pics of the 'strippers' you have built pleaseAll of the last 3 years of building bikes has been "Strippers" for customers and I don't ever post pix of stuff I don't own and most of the owners would not like it either but on our site www.skitskrajmc.com there are a couple of GSXR's that have been "Stripperized" by DP Race Tech. I have a bunch of pix on my computer athome in the workshop but nothing that's out on the web..... Some that are already posted... Old square GSXR with R1 tail and Acerbis headlight.... Fireblade DP Race Tech style.... R1, not all done at that time... Johnny-Boy's GSXR 1000 last summer, this summer it's a killer.... Hot Rod Max & Johnny-Boy on "Strippers" This summer we are taking it one more notch with 12 o-clock bars, motor cages, suede paints and some Hot Rod touches..... Also been involved in a couple of drag bikes..... DP says: Worn out 2 angle grinders just cutting frames this winter......

Look great but they've got to go Hmmm white walls - you can get away with that on something without a chain drive on a motorcyle with a chain it's a nightmare!!! Talking bikes - I've been trying for the last 10 years to get another Yamaha XS1.1S - worst day of my life when I sold mine - can I find a half decent one now that hasn't been butchered can I hell!!!
