A good choice I'd say, 240s are fantastic motors. I'm more a fan of the saloons myself but there's nothing wrong with the estate model either, but with the estates watch out for ones that have been abused later in life, it can happen with the saloons too but many of the estates end up being used like a cheap van, so watch out for damage and poor maintenance, they're very reliable cars if you keep them maintained but they won't stand abuse for too long. Great motors though, find yourself a good one (you might as well, they're hardly worth anything so a good one's little more expensive than a rough one!) and mod the swine!

There was a genuine factory 140 ambulance for sale on French ebay a while ago, I think I boshed it in the Ebay thread.
QUALITY motors, I learned to drive in a brown 240 estate with full-length roofrack. I love 'em. The archetypal 'english person who lives in france' car too.

Yeah 240's rule. I'm after a 240 estate as well once I sell the suxo (by the way if anybodies interested PM me). I've been told to look out for worn rear suspension bushes and shocks.

Wasnt there an atricle, i think in Retro Cars many moons ago, where they were stripping out a 240 estate for track days and the like? I think it was quite an early issue. Might be another mag tho.. Might have been PPC?

The top picture reminds me ... In the late 80s I was at the rallycross GP at Brand Hatch (early december). There were a few 240 turbos from scandinavia that looked spectacular. Side-ways everywhere. We chatted with the owner & mechanics of one and found out that they hadn't told there wives that they were coming over here. ;D
They also had crates and crates of beer ........

Might have been PPC? PPC I think. Free horsepower! Can't be bad ;D The article was in Retrocars, I wrote it and that's why I've now changed my username to Bryn, 'cos that's my name and 'irol' was a bit ambiguous. Anyway, I've been in the garage a lot this week working on my motors, and here's what I bolted on to the 240 that was in the article... A rather splendid 17in steel wheel. It needs more dish (I have a cunning plan), but you get the idea. The car is lowered 70mm anyway, but obviously needs a lot more with such low profile tyres. I'm a happy man though ;D One day you'll all drive 240s, you just wait and see... Volvo's gonna getcha

I'm liking the 17" steels. They the peugeot ones? They look cool. Might have to get a set for when I get the 240

That's them, 407 steels, £28.01 each. Just tried it on the back so far with a bald 205/40x17 tyre mounted up. Nice stretch on the 7.5in rim with that size too... I've just used a 10mm spacer at the moment as they're ET45 and the Volvo is ET20. You could use 25mm spacers I suppose, but in all honesty I reckon they'd look a bit wibblepoo. So I'm going to get the centres cut and welded to move it back and give it some lip

Sounds cool you'll have to keep us updated. I quite like the look of the wheels without a dish. Still looks as if it needs more lowering though and thats -70mm!!! At that price they're worth getting. How much are 25mm spacers?
