I have an insane need for a slideable retro motor, there is obvious stuff like s12s and corrollas.
Are there any other things I'm overlooking?
I love daihatsu charmants, but I'm not even sure if they are rwd and i know that there are about 2 in the uk haha.
so yeah show me cool stuff

anything small or midsized, late 70's to mid 80's will do you if you add moe power, most of them used live axle rears and were not burdened with crash protection and lots of luxuries so were lightweight compared to todays stuff, as an example a 90's granny scorpio is heavier than my transit van, a mk5 cortina is about 400kg lighter than a current ford focus.
I grew up driving escorts, cortinas, cavaliers, chevettes, marinas etc etc, all of em will drift in the wet as standard, 150 to 200 bhp will get most older live axle cars sliding easily, my 24v cortina was going sideways up the A127 at 70mph chasing a bmw M3 because the road was damp and would go sideays on demand in the dry at most sensible cornering speeds. yeah looked into cortinas (seemed like an obvious choice coming from bangers lol) but there really arent many about.
4wd is doable as it can be 'changed' to make it the correct wheel drive. Just getting a bit bored of vws and want a bit of fun.

a drifty marina would be cool, it'd need some help in the suspension department, an avenger would also be cool and has a great name, i guess a lot depnds on your taste in looks, square cars or more swoopy? 2 or 4 door? hatchback, saloon, sporty looking?

volvo + turbo = win.
had great fun in an early 740 estate turbo belonging to a mate. Was lowered and had a welded diff and more boost. Was like an immense sideways whistling sofa.

Plusone for volvos.. 200, 700 and 900 series fit your criteria. don't know about lameness of the engines as i prefer to waft rather than drift. A b230e in a 240glt is 136ish stock, and a 740 turbo is 150ish stock.
