There was an article in the paper today about a guy who's had his Bentley since 1956. Bought for £150 as his first car he's done over 100,000 miles in it, still uses it daily and it's now worth over £250,000. I've still got my first car, not that difficult as I'm only 20, it only gets used in the summer now but I plan to have it forever, anyone else got theirs? Or had it for an incredibly long time? ;D

I utterly adore mine... Even if it tried to kill me twice and is now pretty much dead. It adds character. I don't plan to ever sell her, but you never know what's around the corner I guess. (In my case the bonnet lifting at speed or a barrier)

i have my car 5 years now, not too long, but i've come very attached to it, and it has been off the road more then i've driven it (almost 3 years since i've broken the engine! ) I could never part with it i think (but you never know), i do know that if it gets sold, it'll be broken for parts. I think i can't stand seeing someone else driving MY car ;D

i have a feeling my lolvo will be me with me forever now.. as circumstances change - more free space becomes available etc i wont have a need to sell it as i wont get alot for it anyway so i guess its something i would restore once the MOT runs out - 600 miles since friday night i've driven almost and loved every bit of it

Ive had escRot over 4years now. I returned it to the road after god knows how many years resting, changing alot of parts along the way. Its been stolen, recovered, crashed it into the back of a punto and I've broken gearboxes and leaf springs. I've retrimmed the interior, had it patched, painted and paid half the worth of the car for 2 front wings only to have it reversed into within a month. Ive doubled its power and made it handle and stop (somewhat). It has been up for sale and I have, at times, hated the chuffing thing. I could never actually get rid though. I'd rather put it somewhere and return to it when I have the means to sort it. But for now, I'm retaxing it tomorrow, taking it for an hour out before work to remind me why I love it so much then starting getting it ready for RRG

i still have my first car, my mk1 escort. bought it off a school mates dad who ran an MOT garage and had it sitting in the corner under a cover when i was 14 had a seized 1.1 in it and was pretty much bare so got it home and started working p/t to try and get some bits (cage grille lights bumpers bucket seats etc). My dad restored it and painted it over the next 3 years (with me helping a bit). pinched my dads 1300GT engine out of his mk1 and when i passed my test it looked like this: (i was 17 and the don at my 'posh' college where everyone had stupid A classes then when i turned 20 changed the engine and fitted a 160hp pinto heres a vid of me racing an ST fiesta when they first came out (note bryn commentating lol) sorry about bad quality this pic was taken about 3 years ago (would have been 22 by this time) by this point was getting tatty from years of new driver abuse and never beeing cleaned and you can see where i have bodged and painted bits in different whites as halfords never had the vauxhall colour i originally had the car painted lol I havent driven it for over a year now as it started getting tatty and needs wings doors and a spray. this is it as it stands looking sorry for itself in my garden: never done a build thread on it as it has not progressed at all in at least a year lol. But as has been said I'm coming up for 26 now so have had it 12 years and have had so so many good times/memories in this car (including 5 trophies from shows which i am very proud of). Its like a member of my family and i love her to bits. Hopefully next year if all goes to plan..... hope you all like my stupid story thats alot for me ;D

p.s I'm not posh or clever i got into the college as i was in the catchment area also my 0-60 time in the vid was low 6 seconds (6.1 if i remember) but my best et at drag racing was a measly 15.7 which i was never happy with. an 1100 diff and a 4 speed rocket box wasnt a very good combination i think as i was really revving by 90mph lol and i only ever raced at north weald too because cruise speed was about 50 again due to the gearing so never ventured to the pod. also welded my diff but broke it the day i went to try and improve my time which was the last time i ever drove it . God typing all this is really making me realise how much i miss/love that car

God typing all this is really making me realise how much I miss/love that car I'd never seen pics of you r mk1 before. Looks hardcore, especially being a first car Do the same as me, if your coming to RRG, stick it on a trailer and drag it along so we can all gorp at it

Still got my Galant (It's only been 5 years) and i don't plan on selling it any time soon. It's had a motor rebuild so it'll stay on the road for a few more years to come! It's also been in the family for over 10 years as well. Cheers

Some interesting stuff so far . I'm coming to the point where I'm going to have to sell car soon, it'll be the first time I havnt kept one I've had my mini since I was 15, like the rest of the post I've spent unknown amounts on interiors and exteriors! Lol Now I'm older it's off the road whilst I build a bigger engine, a whole new learning curve! Ha I even plan to drive to france in it when my family go on holiday

My first road car had all its mechanicals replaced in the first year and then the body shell replaced the year after, so even when i still owned my first car i didn't still own my first car.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

I only had my first car for a few months before it exploded. It wasn't very good. Still, it was only £200, back in '99. Lessons learned from that car: I'm not very good with filler (in fact it was more filler than metal by the time I finished, I kept finding more and more rust); a bolt-on chrome tailpipe isn't as cool as the 17 year-old me thought it was; a 1.0 Nova will do 100mph... but it'll only do it once. Then there will be oil and bits of engine everywhere. It was curse word, but I loved it. Everyone loves their first car, don't they? It was independence, it was freedom, it was all mine.
