Reliant Scimitar or Triumph Dolomite Sprint?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw the pics of Lewski78's (can I call you Lewis for short?) and thought 'Now that looks fantastic, I could see myself in one of them!@ and then more gorgeous shots of fantastic looking Scimitars pop up! Buger! Oh well, at least it has helped me decide that if I do go for the Scimitar it'll be the earlier SE5a. (I think, D'oh!)

As for fitting the turbo Saab lump o a dolly, have you seen how tight it is doen that side of the engine on a dolly? The shape of the exhaust manifold should give you an idea.

The earlier Scimitar coupes do look very cool but I need a bit more space as I have a little daughter.

Hard choice. Personally I'd go for the scimitar. Its quirky, quick and best of all has an essex v6. You know's it makes sense

I think I've got a picture of that somewhere launching off with the rear tyres distorting as they try to keep up with the torsional speed of the rims.

Tell you what, I'll get a tidy usable Dolly Sprint to start with and drive it around while I save up for a Scimitar to go all out on with an engine conversion.

The dolly Sprint will have to already have polybush suspension and decent springs/shocks though. I don't mind a tired paint job as long as it's not totaly shot and the interior must be good.

Then I'll decide wether or not to fit the Cosworth 2.9 I have in my Cortina to a Scimitar or go for a V8.

The se6 and the 5 are a very different experiance; the 6 is far more of a cruiser with a hairy chest, there as the 5 is alot more flat caps and cuppa tea.

We have a 70s green se6, auto box, brown interior, needs restroing but i want to do it slammed over some 14 x 7 alley cats, stretched rubber, roof rack.... hells yea!

its currently in bits in the garage having the gear box changed, and a steel timing wheel fitted.

140hp, and alot more torque than standard - stock power is usually as little as 105 - 120hp despite the book saying 135/8 - and its pretty easy and cheap to get that 140hp.

the are only under rated due to them being asociated with the 3 wheelers... which do suck.

They handle very well with triumph derived front suspension (double wishbone, coil overs, disc brakes), and better rear sus than the dolly (quad trailing arms, watts linkage, coilovers, drum brakes) and go alot better than dollly, the SE5a manual non overdrive is the one you want, best gear box out of all of them.

The timing wheels can be a weak point, due to them being a fibre POS, but steel ones are available.

the chassis doesnt rot to badly, although, like anything from that era if its left to its own devices and not looked after they will desolve (probably more solid than a dolly!)
