A mate in South Africa has just sent me this pic of his 230S finny racing in the "Springbok " hiistoric racing series in South Africa. He got a third in class ,which is pretty good for what is actaully a standard car with lowered springs racing against mustangs etc.

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

The fintails look great in race trim, there used to be a proper rally car in the UK... But I can't find any pics. Nice work

No fins, but we saw this racing at Castle Combe last year Thats Stuart Imbers Car,It's a finny but it's a W112 300SE ,with air suspension.these were the officail mercedes Rally cars in the late 50's to early 60's. Hers another Pic of Grants Merc as he lines up to go out on the Grid...check out the competiton! and Only in South Africa would you see cigarettte ads....Can't be sissy in Africa .. ;D.
