I'm going to be down at the unit on Saturday and Sunday if anyone wants to come over? Free space to work on your car in the dry, out of the rain and in the warmth thanks to Grunty's wood burner ;D
PM me if interested? I'll be working on my own cars but there is currently plenty of space if you're looking for somewhere to work over the weekend.

I felt compelled to do a black & white of my fave shot of the weekend - Ryan with the Plasma cutter. I reckon it works pretty well. I might print this off and put it on the wall somewhere in the unit....along with some more B&W's I'm thinking of doing from past playdays. What d'ya reckon?? homokaasu.org/rasterbator/

Thanks Dan, but that software converts the image to a halftone print (large black & white dots) which looks cool on a graphic image, but wouldn't be right for the sort of look I am after. Luckily I have some software that allows me to print large mulit-page images....and an A3 laser printer which can cope with the printing, so it's all good ;D Here is a poster I made on A3 sheets from the pic produced by BrianDamaged: 9 x A3 pages in size ....and with a bit of wallpaper paste.....VOILA! I just need to chose a selection of images from the playdays now ;D

Turns out Area52 is a 200 mile round trip for me...... So at just after 9am this morning I clambered into the Passat, fired up the climate control, slipped a CD in the dash and hit the M4, just in time for a cuppa I pulled up outside and tooted the horn, the look on Bruce, Ben and Seans faces was priceless, no Bruce, I wasn't joking about driving that far to change a bulb! Once in and cuppa'd up we planned the days tasks, Ben needed to swap the knackered steering rack on the Volvo, Sean had CX fettling to carry out and after realising that long cars couldn't fit on the lift with the work benches where they were, Bruce and I dreamt up a solution. A bit of forwards and backwards and the Volvo was lined up Then the moment of truth, having lifted the featherweight Hustler how would the bargainous lift cope with the chunky Swede? Easily was the answer, the perfect height and a godsend when changing the rack, saves laying on a cold and oily floor for hours! The view from the Snug I love this CX, it oozes French Retro by the bucketful With much hammering and fettling the rack was persuaded into place And with a bit of nifty cutting and welding, three extended supports were made for the bench, all it needs is new worktops and a hinge built and the lift will have easy access for anything thats not too much longer than the Volvo then once in the air a bench for all the tools to work on it too. A trip to the shops netted a new bulb and supplies for the BBQ, we munched, nattered and worked for a few more hours The Passat gave up its bulb after disassembling the under bonnet panels and ducts, with squashed fingers we now have illumination again. Do I win the "Newest car to be work on in Area52" award then Bruce? Huge thanks to the chaps for the help and companionship today, its what saturdays were made for ;D

Was going to nip down today but project "hideously over engineered work bench" was going well so I couldnt stop. Cant be long now before the Volvo gets a splash of poo brown paint?

i was aswell at some point but not bothering to get out of bed that early combined with more welding, hitting with hammers, chopping out, chiseling more hitting with hammers, angle grinders with wire wheels & cutting discs in, welding & only one coffee stopped me or should i say, left me more than occupied

GOOD DAY today. Ben's volvo was looking good on the ramp and it's great to see someone using it to work on their car at last. Had a great day hanging out with Ben and Bruce and also to meet speedman! 200miles to change a light bulb, that's the spirit!
Got a few jobs sorted on the CX too and at last now I have a handbrake! Many thanks Bruce for letting me use the space, what a perfect Saturday.

I'm knackered and covered in grit, dirt and ATF. Was a lovely weekend in which me and Bruce had the best Area 52 meal EVER, I got to use the ramp to fix the Volvo and make it lower, attempt to help with benchy things and dragging broken cars about (heavily abbreviated version of weekend events). Cheers Bruce ;D
