You are a strange, strange individual B8D, but one who I like already. I've already greatly enjoyed reading this as I rather like diesel myself. You MUST run a straight through exhaust for that tractor/ industrial equipment sound goodness! well I'm hoping for just a 2" bore cherry bomb running diagonally down from the tubby and a turn out just behind the front wheel... I'm thinking the turbo will provide some silencing ;D si

Turbos do provide a bit alright, had a straight pipe on my 2.0 nissan diesel powered rekord which was WAY louder then my 318 TDS which is 1.7td and has full straight pipe around the same diameter. Same with a 2.8td isuzu trooper, the rekord was easily 15 percent louder than that, and the trooper had a 3 inch pipe exiting in fron of the rear wheel.
Personally i wouldnt see the need for a cherrybomb, and i'd be worried it's make it sound a bit odd. Though i'm open to hearing it, i just never bothered with them. The 318 tds that i have now has a dodgy random bits of pipe found lying around special on it, which i should really do something about but i cant be bothered.

Wow - top fabrication on that bracket - seemless welds! And great to see another estate on the road - even if you are putting a deisel lump in it. I respect the path your taking there, even though it makes me want to cry a little. The estates are rare as hell these days, especially on the road, but you know, your car. Loving the attitude and the skills though. top work

ive not done a lot recently but its still a little closer to the day i fit it... ive now got a getrag 240 manta gearbox that ive had soaking in jizer for a week so it should be a bit cleaner when ive finished cleaning it.. ive got a prp flange for the gearbox now and ordered a new carlton ebc clutch kit.. although i will only use the friction plate and the release bearing does anyone want a new carlton pressure plate?? buck shee... i am on the lookout for a starter and a diesel pressure plate for it now if anyone has one? ive decided i want an oil cooler so ive fitted a sandwich plate under the filter.. and will run a oil stat and 15 row cooler... the newly painted water pipes are all on and so is the intake manifold all with new gaskets.. i still need to make a alternator adjuster and finish making the exhaust and turbo setup.. I'm toying with the idea of fitting a charge cooler and a intercooler or maybe just one or the other will take some more pics when ive made more progress.. si

Hey bud, Did you pick up the box of bits I left for you at A52 at the last playday? I wasn't there long and I turned up pretty late in the day so must have missed you. Took me ages to find the box, was under a load of 924 parts

nowt wrong with "awfull check orange"..... I'm trying to resist a droopsnoot front... although may change the front lights in it for twin square... si I used to run a flat-front 1800 Firenza, and I fitted the twin square lights off a VX4/90. I thought it looked pretty good, but I never met anyone who agreed, and the light output was awful so I took them off again. Didn't need much modification to the grille as I recall. Still got the lights in my shed.

ive been just bolting a few bits on now bits have arrived.. new custom phospher-bronze spigot bush machined up and fitted.. new carlton friction plate with std TD pressure plate.. water pipes now on too.. and oil takeoff sandwich plate for oil cooler.. all shiny.. cleaned up the manta box was filthy.. now better not shiney but clean enough.. i put it next to the carlton gearbox just to see for size comparison.. ive still got a fair amout of little bits to do though.. make a gearlever setup.. make the turbo fit the manifold and rotate center housing.. make turbo oilfeed and drainback.. make turbo exhaust elbow to downpipe.. make alternator adjuster bracket.. make gearbox mount (wont be finished till i start fitting it to car) trim end of gearbox input shaft and fit gearbox.. fit starter and oilcooler pipes.. start and run on floor to check all is well then source intercooler/chargecooler and rad and fit.. si

The skillz some people have on this site annoys the bejeezus outta me ;D - in a nice way. Lovin' the car fella - engine work has me lost a little but that's easily done Looks excellent as is - cousin had a horrendously 70's orange one years back - ex funeral home body mover with bad paint job.... females in the family wouldn't get in it ;D Wathcing and learning - fantastic workmanship.....
