flat rate for modifications - sounds like HIC? they're great.... till you need to claim. or till you change your bank details, and due to a direct debit being 10 days late they cancel your insurance, yet don't tell you and take the next payment anyway. edit: aaah i see, adrian flux. but what i said about HIC stands

Never trust a man Who names himself Trevor. Or one day you might find He's not a real drug dealer.

I'm 33, wannabe ranger, 1.3 1985 golf, fully comp, 9 years no claims, lowered, 5000 mile per annum....quite high risk postcode. flux £282 endsleigh £299 elephant £287 for a frickin 1.3 it was less for my 2.0 passat are we paying the premium for people not driving with insurance? ive seen the court fines for driving without insurance.....its less than my insurance premium I'm 37, had license 4 full years, it's clean and I have 4 years no claims. My postcode must timeshare with Kosovo. I get those sort of quotes for mid 90's Skoda Felicia and Favorits. The saab is arround £500 as was the Celica GT4 and the last Saab. Mitsu GTo TT, MK3 Supras, and 2.5 TT Soarers tend to be arround the £12-1500 mark, no body will even quote on a Skyline or MK4 Supra, yet I can get fully comp on a 911 SC mid 1980's for about £900-£1100. Still far too expensive but surely a 3 litre porsche is goign to be more expensive to put right in the event of a twang than a J car, even if it has Supercar performance.

According to the book I live in the lowest possible category postcode area. Car is kept on a drive overnight and would be alarmed too. Would also be willing to transfer the mk1 to whoever gives me a good quote, but no, theyve ruined the masterplan. For reference purposes, the Postcode Risk Assessment ListBloody hell, Where I am in Warrington is a B risk, and I still reckon I'm paying over the odds for insurance. Where I work is a "Refer", as is where used to live in Luton.

'Refer' is not good is it, well thats where i am, a nice quiet road with normal people, two minute drive away is Moss side heard of that place? Must have summat to do with this refer thing. must mean could be a G but depends which road BTW students in the house, try Endsleigh, they give upto 30% off for being a student, how crazy is that. I actually insured a 2.0 Volvo in my second yaer with em in a rough area (F) too! Seems like a lot of Manc/Salford postcodes are refer. I work in Salford which is M5, right next to the Ordsall estate, and one of the guys here lives in Harperhay, and they all come under "Refer" too.

Couldnt get sense out of that new list but on the other, i know that going from E/F to refer costs another 20% on my policy!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

When I changed from the 1.3 metro to the 2 litre Beige Bomber that is my Saab 99, my current (at the time) wanted £1300. That's with 10 years NCB! I was paying £210 for the Metro. Neither car modded in any way that an insurance company is worried about (ie. interior and alloys from a posher model of the same car. The metro bog standard).
Went shopping and eventually found a £240 with Screen Trade. More like it! Still pricey though. The 99T (piles of mods, worth 6 times as much and double the power, harder to replace as rare as heck etc.) I'm only paying £220. Hurrah for classic insurance!
Stupidest quote I've had was for a 1.8 Chavalier. Again bog standard. £2300 from "budget".

Shopping around works, and the saabs done few crimes over the years, would like to see the beige bomber in readers rides...

Oh a 900 classic is definitely allowed! Even though they're just a 99 with a stretched front to knacker the handling ;D
