it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I cant wait until insurance quotes don't compeletly destroy the chances of me owning a certain car!!
By way of example, last year, I'd been looking at a few Polo G40s, and thought i'd found the right one. Lowest insurance quote was 1250 quid tpft, lowest fully comp was 2500. Granted its a quick little car, granted I'm 21 years old and only have 1 years NCB, but FFS the car was only worth 1300 quid!!!

.but FFS the car was only worth 1300 quid!!! The problem isn't the cost of your car (they felt they could sell the salvage for £50) but how expensive the other cars on the road are. If you notice the blonde in the mini-skirt but not the BMW speeding towards you in the high street (as we all do occasionally!) and happen to turn at that very moment (as most of us nearly have) thats shed loads of money the insurance company have to earn back. If every driver in the country was insured then the prices would drop dramatically for a clean history driver, but while the courts make it cheaper to be un-insured, we must suffer.

According to the book I live in the lowest possible category postcode area. Car is kept on a drive overnight and would be alarmed too. Would also be willing to transfer the mk1 to whoever gives me a good quote, but no, theyve ruined the masterplan. For reference purposes, the Postcode Risk Assessment List

reading this I'm glad I'm old. ;D Here, here, pass the lumbago pills would you? It's only been this year that my points/speeding ban collection has come down to a reasonable level to enable me to insure something stupid. But some of the prices people are quoted these days are insane... Northern Ireland is even worse, there was a kid out there i met with a modified Civic, it'd cost him 32K Euros to build and he couldn't afford the 8k Euro per annum for insurance so instead he transferred the insurance from his daily driver Golf onto the Civic, but he could only do this for three weeks a year. After a year he sold it for 16K Euro, you do the maths. Ouch. I can appreciate the desperation when somebody is trying to stop you from doing something legal that you enjoy.
