Cant remember who was thinking about electrcc vehicles, while doing a bit of pre purchase research i came across this guys blog, he runs an electric Bedford CF as a daily driver, hoovering the hydrogen gas out of it every morning don't sound like fun to me though. :S bedfordcfelectric.blogspot.com/

I remember working on an electric CF in the early eighties, it belonged to The Center for Alternative Technology, near Machynlleth, mid wales, I wonder if it's the same one.

Local electricy board offices used to have several and they had overhead gantry for the charging leads at night. Always thought they were a good idea but didn't last long. A friend was converting a Land Rover to electric power and managed to get an ex electric CF motor - huge thing so they must either have had low useable range or massive battery packs.

So he uses a Hoover to suck hydrogen out so it doesn't get ignited by the sparks from the motor, except the Hoover sucks the hydrogen across the sparky motor inside itself. Ok, I can see the logic there.

i'd fit a roof vent, what with hydrogen being lighter than air it'd sort itself out.

i know where theres two of these parked up.. been trying to negotiate for the better of the two for a while...
real world specs from the very man who drove it till it was parked up...
"yeah it would do 55-60mph and get 30-40 miles form a charge"
that would cover my commute no problem.... they had special kit there with the vans for doing the battery watering etc..
essentially a massive motor bolted to an upside down rear axle facing towards the back of the van...
cool vehicles though...

After trying to find a clean CF for a while its probably worth buying an electric one and selling off the electric bits to put a decent motor back in there.

DO you have to tax electric vehicles? No road tax on electric vehiclels - and electric commercials are MOT exempt as well. Paul H

If you loaded a generator in the back you could increase your range by charging as you go, its not a hybrid if your only delivering it officer.
