Just looking for a bit of guidance in the wheel department. I have several choices for the Cavalier, but I'm not sure which will give the right look. It getting lowered but will be a daily drive so can't go too extreme... Standard Rostyles 13 inch Opel ATS 13 inch Opel GTE 14 inch like these BMW BBS 15inch If none of these, what else, I have a limited budget and don't know of any deep steelies that would fit.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I don't mind the Rostyles, they do suit it but they are so far under the car its mad, need something to fill the arches more sideways, don't think there are any wider ones out there...these are 5.5 or 6J but 37mm offset

You still on standard brakes? same size as the Manta if they are, and the cav... should fit.... Common Manta brake upgrade is the Carlton 2.2 vented job, they fit under 13 in wheels...I have it on My rally car

AFAIK banded rims are illegal now. Basically what happens is someone saws off the outer part of the rim and welds in a band of steel say 1" wide to make a 6x13 into a 7x13. They don't take the stress well and leak or break up. Popular in the 60s and early 70s when you couldn't get much in the way of aftermarket wheels but defo to be avoided.
What you can get done is have the wheel centre removed (assuming its a 2 piece like most rostyles are) and welded into a wider rim. Theres a firm in Birmingham does it and Weller also used to offer the service.
FWIW I like the Rostyles best, ATS second.
