Apparently in Bullitt they had to rig the Charger up because it was so fast and handled better it left the Stang behind in the car chases. They were running 4" wide tyres on it and they took the shocks off to make it lean over. Can't find the article, but it was fascinating. And they had to ban McQueen from doin his own car stunts because he wrecked a bunch of the cars. In Bullit the Mustang had its power upped, you don't need to do anything to make a Charger handle badly, they do that as standard. McQueen did some of the stunt driving but wasn't too good, the bend you see him miss is a genuine mistake. He didn't wreck any cars. Out of the Mustang and Charger I don't think I could pic, they are too different. The only thing they have in common is they are way too fashionable.

This is NOT a shelby GT500, it's a Barry'ed base model with a bodykit. In the film they used a few GT 350's and made them look like 500's, with some Hollywood extras i'll grant you, But they had to destroy a few, and the GT 500's are a bit too rare.

That's a fair point, But in '67 2,048 GT500 were built and only 1,175 GT350s and '68 there were 2073 GT500s and 1,253 GT350s. So that would make the 350 rarer. ;D try this for prices. click

Tough call. I love them both. But I'd rather have a '70 roadrunner than either I think!

as much as i like the 'tang in gone in 60 seconds done by chip foose, Was Elenors kit done by foose? i didn't know that "We were looking at a '67 GT500. It's a bitchin' car, no doubt," continues Mann, "but does it really stack up against these other vehicles?" This is a pertinent concern in a film that would be overstuffed with Ferraris. "In the context of all these other cars, it's not necessarily going to be the hottest thing going down the road (That depends on who you are--Ed.). That's when Jerry kind of opened the doors for me to come up with a variation on it . . . ." Building that variation that didn't suck started with famed Hot Rod illustrator Steve Stanford, who drew up an illustration of an over-the-top '67 GT500. Former Boyd Coddington designer Chip Foose was hired by the production company to turn Stanford's work into a reality. Foose fitted the car with PIAA lights in both the nose and rear backup areas. He also prototyped the hood, the front valance, the side skirts, the scoops, and other fiberglass parts that would be used for the car. That billet grille is based on aftermarket pieces originally developed for Chevy Astro vans and Foose found the Schmidt 17x8-inch wheels that would be sheathed in P245/40ZR17 Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. from here: mustangmonthly.com/featuredvehicles/173_0011_gone_60_seconds/

Its the Charger for me ... though a nice 1966 Mustang Fastback would be nice. I think the Charger has ever so slightly more `legendary` status as it typifies an era. Unlike the Charger, the Mustang was continued beyond the 1970`s (where the Charger ended and where the Mustang reached its peak) and ended up a mere shadow of its former self. For this reason, the Mustang will always be a little tainted. A 1968 Charger A 1966 Fastback ;D And where the Mustang peaked (in my opinion) ...

Out of those two looks wise it has to be the charger I took this one at the mopar nats a few years ago Is this a barracuda? I like the one with the shaker hood! But as far as power goes then mustang has it, mainly because of the 80's 5.0 with a turbo strapped on, they are making mega power out of these engines. And when have you ever seen a charger look this purposeful? So after all that I'm undecided! J

Also the challenger has those lamps in the front apron and the front bumper curve up slightly differently at the ends.

Charger for me every time, although i do like the Mustang. Every couple of years i go through my i want a Charger phase and then i go and look at the prices which make it unfeasable. The only ones i can get are rough ones from America that need loads of work. So i settled for some British Muscle this time. i,ll get there though one day.
