just watched the start of the 6 o clock news and there was a bit about the snow and there is a porsche 924/928 trying to drive in the snow - lots of spinning it's the 2nd or 3rd item on the news...so you've got time to tune it!

interesting that there was quite a lot of Land Rovers stuck in the snow...surely they shouldn't be as badly affected?

A good driver in a 2wd drive will get a lot further than a bad driver in a 4wd. Most 4wd owners spend most of there time on the road so get road specific tyres and as they weigh nearly two tonnes they can get stuck pretty easy. Plus even though landrovers are permanent 4wd unless its in diff lock once one wheel starts to spin you are no longer providing drive to the other three. I spent an enjoyable 2 hour driving the other morning mostly sideways in my trooper on the hilly backroads round mine out in the woolybacks without having to resort to 4wd with a permanent grin on my face. Until the alternator packed up So then had to resort to my 406 and make good use of the handbrake ;D

Four wheel drive = twice as less traction. If it ain't there, it ain't there!

yeah, the longest road in tanzania is there coz my dad built it, stuff like thats cool. plus i got to grow up in Africa, Iraq, Saudi and China which is kinda groovy That's pretty cool, my dad has a claim like that, he pretty much delivered Skye Bridge, when he worked with Tam Houston in the 80s he delivered all the machinery that was used to put it up, plus a fair bit of the steel used to build it. You can't take him near the place without him bragging about it for hours! ;D ;D He also brags about stuff like when he used to deliver tanks for the army during the Gulf War etc. I used to travel with him but I never got to stay for long in any foreign countries unfortunately, in those days drivers didn't hang around long, driving time regulations and 55mph limits were either cleverly dodged (by using cleverly re-engineered pre-limiter old lorries like my dad's custom Scania, they took an old Anderson's four wheeled shunter and made a 44 tonne GVW, tri-axled, sleeper cabbed monster of a motor that used to cruise at 80mph when the law wasn't around) or outright ignored! ;D The result was we used to travel all night quite often, which was great fun but it meant that I never got to soak up the culture of the places we were blitzing through at 80mph in the middle of the night, the closest I got was stopping in digs and cafes and seeing the sights from the window of an old Scannie 111. ;D ;D You're right TommyG, travelling the world really beat being holed up in some curse word town in Britain.
