hey people... 2006 will be the year for 'Red Rapid MK2' which is basically, my red Rapid reshelled. By doing this it means i'll be able to build the car just how i want it. So was thinking what you guys would recomend for mods...remembering it will hopefully be my first car to insure... only thing is, it must be bumperless, SKODA powered, and red. a pic for people if they want to photoshop... ideas so far are... webber DGAV carb, electric fuel pump, ashleys exhaust, MPi head. lowered some more, hopefully with proper suspension - non of this cut springs business. prespex rear side glass fibreglass engine cover with built in spoiler (no barryboy spoiler - it looks good) clear rear lenses. cd player head unit, cheap output (ideas ) thinking of Rallye Red too... I want some ATS Classics, but they'll be quite expensive, so think i might stick with the minilittes. so what would you guys do ?

Estelle (upright lights) rear panel, Porsche wheels (adapters required!), a ground scraping stance and a meaty exhaust.

Centrelines, big n littles, VW 'turbo' exhaust that curls around on itself and exits under the offside rear, nose-down stance and a lot of polish.

oh, and Fabia vRS seats... and would prespex work for a sunroof? In case knowone else has said it already, you want lexan rather than perspex for car type applications. Try Direct Plastics in Sheffield - Paul Woodhead who owns the company races the fastest normally aspirated Bug in the UK so knows his onions 0114 256 0889

oh right gotcha. nothing cheap is gonna sound good. the best way to go about a cheap and decent system is hand me downs.another option is to get speakers from a modern car from the scrappy.late model carltons have stonking speakers in em, tweeters with passive cross overs too. stick a wanted ad on the for sale section, see if anyone here can help. a bit too late but i gave away a load of stuff following my latest upgrade. currently residing in the benz is.. a kenwood cd/mp3 player 2x blaupunct tweeters 2x 80w sony explode 5" custom fit 2x 300w kenwood 6x9s 1x infinity 800w amp 2x 12"vibe subs.capable of handling 3000w and about a million feet of cable. i get a very loud and good quality sound out of the set up at present, but in the new year I'm gonna change the amp to something more suited to the subs.needs to be phatter. look out eardrums and kidneys. ;D

speakers and stereo i will help u wit on msn rob. not a bother. might be able to head u in right way via ebay. as for the car, fella up there had it right. smoothed down with a mk1 rear panel, go for the best wheels u can afford but the best thing to do is save up - i know a perfect one coming back on the market! perspex wont work for the sunroof becasue you'd lose the aerial, duh! and no poit replacing windows unless you're stripping the car, doesnt save much overall. delock dehandle it with solenoids, don't worry about the fibreglass bonnet altho carbon on perspex could work. colour is perfect, keep it 100%. of course no bumpers, and drop it aroud 50mm altho this will require special work to do so, but it will be oh so gorg

it's got two standard speaker moulds under the front dash, but they are very small, and crappy...altho the ones in my car have been upgraded. also, got non-standard speaker holes in the rear door cards...
S_S : would a mk1 estelle panel fit?
also, one think i am certainly going to upgrade is the brakes...anyone got any ideas?
brakes off an octy or something?

a mk1 estelle rear panel fits but due to the different angle of the engine lid compared to the Estelle, the locking mechanism sits at a different angle.
Its surprising how different the Rapid looks with a Mk1 rear panel.
BTW, i've got a spare 1 somewhere in the back of the Avia

You could go second hand for stereo stuff. I got some sony 6x9's of a mate for £5. Good job I screwed him over the speakers, cos he screwed me in other ways that I won't go into, this place is about cars, not curse word relationships.
Anyway, moondisks and serious slamming for the win
