I don't see what the problem is here. I like standard classics and I like modified classics (and I loooove Hot Rods ) I like old cars and I like (some) newish cars. And let us not forget what Retro-Rides intro page says: "At the heart of our community our Forum a place to come and discuss anything and everything relating to classic and modified classic cars. So Pleeeeeease everybody we should not shun different avenues of Vehicle ownership as at the end of the day we need to stick together as we all have a common enemy ... ...that of government regulations that come out every year to attack us all Just a thought Motion seconded. My automotive tastes are somewhat varied - I like vintage / VSCC stuff, standard classics, retro stuff, hot rods and custom cars. I strongly believe that the kind of car snobs who will look down on modified / borderline classics will not be attending a show like this. However, I do feel that I should point out that there were people at the last RCS who felt it necessary to deliberately make rude / snide comments about cars to the owners so it's not just the concours brigade who need to be more open minded If someone does criticise your car eg it's tatty / modified etc, please be polite!!! By all means say that it is your car to do with as you wish, and that it is also a modified car show too, but a rude answer will only serve to reinforce their views, which at the end of the day, isn't what any of us want. Be constructive! Think of it as an opportunity to explain your passion - perhaps it's your only car, so is modified to be suitible for daily use, etc etc.

Oooh Aah, I was not aware of this, oh dear thats just not on What a superb point. Incidently I'm a member of a (Free) Classic Car club that meets on the First Sunday of the Month in our County down by the river Severn in Ironbridge area. The club was formed in 1982 originally by the post vintage Humber Car club and Austin A30/A35 owners club. It is known as the 'Woodbridge Classic Car club' (due to the name of the Inn the meets are held at). The club has mainly standard vehciles from the late 40's to the early 70's but... ...Modified/Customs and Hot Rods are welcome and quite often turn up (in fact one member is into & builds Hot Rods) and everyone is apprecitive of the vehicles. Also kit cars turn up for more interest. In the time I have been a member (including as a young lad at the first show in '82) there has never been any Snobery. Despite the word 'Classic' all avenues of vehicles ownership are welcome. This is why I just couldn't believe there has been a 'them and us' at other vehicle shows

my only concern has already been mentioned.that of it becoming a classic show. we need to educate the un-educated, so for sir htw and the retro good il wear my polite hat and not let them wind me up. ;D

I would love to see RCS turn into a weekender with live bands on the Saturday night. (Retro bands of course) This may only be possible with help from other mags or maybe an independent event organiser. I went to the Bug Jam back in the mid 90s and loved it even though i went in an Imp. ;D A modified classics version of Bug Jam would be so book.

My ideal RCS would be turning up on friday evening, setting up the club stand followed by a few drinks and much talking of bo11ox (by bo11ox? Possibly. ) around a fire with the R-R lot to keep warm. Saturday would be laid-back, focused on the drag strip and with a lot of stands/traders. Late night bands and big metal on the strip. Sunday would be purely show with strip-action as a sideline. Awards in the afternoon. *n

Allo!
Been away a while....
The show will be fine as long as the publisher of CLASSICS doesn't get involved, as he is a prat of the lowest order (I used to be the editor for those that don't know, so I have first hand on that).
I think its slightly ironic that CLASSICS started off as Retro ("Old Cars with Attitude"), got diluted and became a classic car mag with a few modded cars in there for good luck and has now been bought by the company that copied the original format and made it work (stuck behind it perhaps).
Personally, I'm looking forward to it. A weekend of retro-car partying... get in! ;D

Just cos something is good for you doesn't mean its good for everyone - for example Marmite does not make good Dog Food.

Classics is owned by Future now .. which is why the show is now a joint thing,.. Interesting thing will be if the magazines become a joint thing
