The Kadett GSi (that's what they're called overhere ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) ) is awesome cars in standard form, but they all have been 'barry'd' overhere ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) It's great to see that there ARE some unmolested around, even with complete rear arches! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Thanks for all the kind words guys, glad to know you like my plans.
The arches have been done, but they've been done well. The guy how I'm buying it from is the second owner, and he's had it a long time. It's been dry stored for four years and while it does run, some of the fuel pipes have perished thus it leaks.
There is no rush though, it's going straight to Morley Auto Services Salfords (www.morleyautoservices.co.uk) and then it'll be done on a drip feed basis. It'll need a few quid chucking at it, but I reckon it's worth saving.

Never given astras a second look but that looks ace! Arches look exeptionaly good, so chances are the rest of it might be mostly rot free. A rare car now to find in that condition, well done. The only experience I have of a 80's red hothatch is my old MG Maestro. Looked good, went quick (sometimes) cornered well (in a fun, slightly sketchy way), but no matter how good it looked there is one thing you cant take away from it. It was still a poxy Maestro. Bits fell off and it started to rot dispite its low mileage and waxoil. About the same as mine, i took the carbs off it and sold the rest of it. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

Love it. I drove Vauxhall's stunning GTE 16v recently - that was a dream accomplished! Proper hooligan motors - make you want to go to Spain and hurl plastic furniture about.

There was nothing worth keeping! Morley's is a goood choice ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I'm really liking the plans for this one, never a fan of these like i said, but I really do apreciate them, they kinda take me back afew years too ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)

Nice one, and the first thing I was about to say is that it needs a set of tear drops. Needs a very good anti theft device before that ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) . Nice car, Chris, just make sure no one gets to have an unauthorised test drive!

I like these. They where proper, proper quick back in the day. There's not all that much in it on paper between one of these and sierra cosworth is there? Well until a corner anyway.
My mate had an import 1.8 8v German Gsi that was proper insane. I think it was running a different cam and a remapped ecu because it was capable of mental performance. We used to say that if there was a 1% chance of dieing in a car crash there was a 99% chance it'd be in that car.

They were fast compared to most hot hatches back then, and somehow more hooliganish in my eyes, not sierra cossie fast though but then the cossie cost a lot more and wasnt really a "hot hatch" despite its hatchback.

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

![](http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f387/cmpod83/GetAttachment-9.jpg) Very quick bright red hot hatch, nan's-living-room brown interior - Interesting decision from someone in Vauxhall there... Congratulations, and good luck on your continuing efforts to save Britain's '80s hot hatch population ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

It doesn't seem like five minutes since I took a pair of ex-Astra Recaros to the tip having realised the'd never go in my Mini and failed to give them away.
That looks rermarkably rust free.

That looks spot on. If it was mine i'd be undecided whether to do some suspension mods to make it handle or leave it as the understeery turd that they are standard. In Total Vauxhall they had a list of the remaining roadworthy Vauxhalls and there weren't many at all irrc.
