I rescued this sad old roof bar from the yard, Cut the ends down so it sits lower on the roof, peeled the black plastic off, was left with these, I welded the ends in as they no longer need to adjust for different roofs and it makes it a lot more rigid, s'cuse the welding, broke the glass in me mask so I had to blink weld, Montys not impressed with my welding skillzors, these have been sitting in a shed for about 20 years, mk1 escort 1300E anyone? welded the brackets to the bar, once again, weldings not pretty but they wont fall off, squirt of hairy sole to tidy it up, mounted on the truck, I'll sort the wiring out so that they actually work next time I get a free couple of hours, i'm pleased with the effect for virtually nought pounds.

top recyling skilzorz !!! just a little point ... the lights are usually mounted on the bottom of the bar so the bar bushes branches etc out of the way instead of the light lenses hitting everything

The way the gutter clamps are designed makes it almost impossible to lean the main hoop forwards so i went for the lights on the top. i have seen clamps that are flatter at the top so if i find any laying about i'll swop em over and move things about.

It's a light off ;D ;D My bar was some old steel bar lying around the shed, dealt the same treatment as yours but minus the "blink" welding

I just picked up a few bits of ABS pipe and some bends from the rubbish pile for a snorkel, need to find a water trap for the top and i'll build that up next, gonna wire the lights up over the weekend couldn't find and on-off-on switch in me box, might actually have to pay for one.

What about using an air admittance valve off soil pipes? don't forget the relay!! My relay coil feed is off the main beam so they only come on with mains

Gonna use two 30 amp relays and wire them in two pairs, i'll trigger them from the main beam but i want to be able to switch them off as roof lights are not road legal and i've had coppers check them before at a roadside stop. You can use them as work lights providing your not moving so i'll set them up on a three way switch so that i can switch them on direct, leave them off or have them come on with the main beam for off road use. I've got an extra bend so i may just face it backwards and put some mesh over it for now, i want a proper dust/water trap on top eventually as they keep the noise down a bit as well as its gonna be on the drivers side on mine as its a Derv so right next to my window. You can see the airbox over on the drivers side and the big rubber hose that just goes through to a gap at the edge of the bonnet, should be easy enough to run along the gap and up through the panel in front of the screen.

Ecellent. I was expecting it to become a dull curse word effort roofrack, not a totally awesome spotlight bar

Nice work that,I like that a lot!
I've been after a light bar for the top of the Disco, did wonder about converting a roofbar like that.Although I have clearance issues already; 4" lift and uber tyres don't mix well with car parks!!
How well do they actually work? Some people have said that they don't really work that well.I suppose it depends how angled they are? Was gonna put a bulbar/A-bar on,but I've got a cut down front bumper and I'm a bit concerned it'd look quite pony!
