even cooler, I think its one of the ones which slides in and under the load bay behind the rear bumper.
the top half is frameless glass, it slides down into the metal door bit which then as "phase 2" retracts under the bumper/load bay floor.

They made those well up into the mid-80's. Had one with factory mag wheels, Buick variant. Quite useful.

has what they call a Clamshell tailgate, glass goes up into the roof and the gate goes down under the floor

ah, I assumed the glass always went into the tailgate like it does on the regular hinged door wagons. Nice videos.

I think that tailgate is just about the coolest thing I have ever seen.... bar none. I would buy that just for that (Oh, I'm easily pleased BTW!!! )
