i got up this morning at 6.35, ten minutes late. Normally I get up at 6.25 and leave at 6.35 to go and get my papers. At the same time as I leave my mate is normally deliveraring a paper to the house next to me.
This morning, i set off (late) and he was only going down my street - very strange he was quite late. So i rode off, got my papers and was riding back, delivered to one house , and then i go along a smooth straight bit of road and the wind was behind me, was i cranked the speed up there. Next you do a 90 left go about 100 meters and 100 left again. Only I wanted to go up onto the kerb, so i came round the corner and was about to turn onto the pavement. Once on the pavement I ussually brake quite hard and stop to deliver a paper. I knew this morning tho that I was go too fast, and suddenly remembered that I have normally seen my mate by this point (he comes round the same way, but in the opposite direction), i contiue round, and suddenly see my mate cycling towards me. Sh!t! Panicing I imediately just hit both brakes. I must explain that the brakes on my bike aren't very good, and I was just hoping to slow down and keeep it controled. So, I hit the brakes, and then I swear within a second I was sliding along the floor. I came to a stop and looked up to my left and saw a Mercedes wheel. Feck, my bike's gone and hit the Merc. My mate came over,
'are you alright rob?'
'did my bike hit the merc?'
'no'
'are you sure!?'
After he had reasured me that I hadn't hit the merc, i stood up and surveyed the damage. Luckily I hadn't gone anywhere near my mate - he was going very slow having only just got on his bike. My bike light was in pieces on the pavement, so we picked up all the bits as i was hoping i could fix them...then i looked at my bike. I've had this bike 5 years and it has been to Cambeltown twice, Poland, Germany, Norway, etc...we've done a lot of miles together...she didn't look good. The front wheel had completely buckled...i picked it up and the front wheel won't even move round.... eek!
So collected my papers (all over the pavement now), tell my mate i'm fine and wheel my bike home lifting the front up. Get home, and sheepishly tell my dad i was going too fast and have now broke my bike - he wasn't very happy. I then did the rest of my round on foot. got home, and decided to take a look at my elbow that had been killing ever since. No skin. At all, very painful. Luckily i had my big winter jacket on, which is actually a ski-ing jacket, and that didn't have a mark on it, my gloves had disintergrated tho.
So my sister put a bandage type thing around my elbow and i went off to school.
it is absolute agony...more painful than my ankle was in Poland, this hurts! got a splitting headache.
So, now I need to buy a new wheel for my bike, which is timing as my PS2 isn't working, i've got £20 worth of model paints to buy, and possibily a Skoda. Not to mention the 256k XD memory card for £20 i was gonna buy.
I reckon i might be doing my paperound on foot for a while.

Anyway, i'm alright really, nothing serious.
I've also worked out the course of the accident. the kerb i was going up is one that has been lowered for acess, and one of the paving stones is all cracked up and smashed. When I hit the brake (which is always makes my bike understeer), i was over the cracked paving stone...thats what made my bike go over i reckon.
