just wondering how many people own volvos on this site "retro" ones of course, an incredibly underated car at the age of 13 when i first started learning to drive it was in a volvo, power comfort and safety ;D my old 245 GLT (2.3i) 136bhp as standard so who else owns or would consider owning a retro volvo

Volvos are great I would love a 144 or 240 I got got to drive this quite a few times over the summer: fanstasic machine, proper work horse with 190k on the clock and it was bairly run in!. (the pic shows it being used to transport a spitfire engine)

erm well some punk hotwired the tractor took out my rear window after that i thought to hell with it never going on the road agen strip it and drive it hard....when the temperature needles in the red (waterpumps cant pump steam) things start to get exiting hand slides at 50mph, slalom road cones at stupid speeds...handbrake barking 3rd gear burnouts J-turns.......that things done evrything but a wheelie, 192k on the clock and it was an MOT failure due to bald tires and some body work, volvo garage gave it to us free of charge (granpas bought literly hundreds of cars off them new and used)
my heart is with the volvo about 3 of my dream cars are volvos i learnt to drive in them and well.......Volvo For Life "I ROLL"

Like the look of that wagoneer, whats the engine in that and out of interest what MPG do you average (boring but credible question) also out of interst how much you looking for?

I've had a couple of 'moderns'. S40 T4s, but you don't want to hear about those, quick though they were ;-)
Always quite fancied a 144. I love old Volvo's. Even some modern ones, and I'm not afraid to admit it!

Either you've invested in some demon rollerskates for yourself, MrsWagoneer & the Wagonettes or you have something dastardly up your sleeve! Old Ovlov's rock. Until recently my folks had a 19-yr-old 760 Turbo (B230T) which was just an incredible machine. More torque than ypu'd think is feasably possible plus turbo sillyness plus rwd plus the ability to carry vast wardrobes. FANTASTIC!!!! Shame they now have a 1400cc 205

samyboy in da house: just wondering how many people own volvos on this site "retro" ones of courseI have owned a bunch of Volvos beeing a Swede and all, first car was a nice California White w red vinyl sport interior 1963 Volvo Amazon on cut coils and 5.5 rims, loved it but the Bug Craze bit. Had a couple of 240's in Cali but the best was a 81 Volvo 240 GT, silver with black & orange stripes, black cordoroy interior quite a rare car that we stuffed with a Chevy 350-350 combo and had a blast with. Today I have a 50's Volvo Boxer tractor and my GF has a 2 owner black 90 Volvo 740 Wagon (for the dogs) in a great shape.... Dream Volvo??? I'll have another 240 V8 Stealth Bomber or a mint lowered cleaned Amazon....

It's a 2ltr and on a decent journey (not my one to work...) I can get over 30mpg. The model is a GL.
I'm selling it (possibly) as I should be cycling to work and would rather put the money for fuel/insurance/tax into a better family car for the moment. Sad, but realistic. Then I can legitimately build a hot rod when funds permit!

Long been a Volvo lover, got my 245 GLT estate, stripped lowered, polycarb windows etc, and a 240GL saloon with a 2.3 motor, LPG, leathered up, Bilsteins and 16s for a daily... You can have a laugh if you push them hard, and you can leave them anywhere safe in the knowledge nobody will about with it ;D Oh, and this 240DL cost me £5, I did 5K in it, lent it to a friend for three months, then went banger racing in it (hooning around a mates field with a load of others)... Sweet It refused to die, so I got it killed... On video too... Had three or four others, all 240s, just about to put some 17in torque thrust D's on a friends Amazon estate, I'll post some pics soon...
