Well the only updates i can give at the moment are that the Trackcar has become an MKIV Escort instead of a Fiesta (more room inside for silly engines and stuff), i´ll start a new thread once the van is done OAP racing look is "in " next season ;DMy workshop has got new lights and electrics and apart from that my back is knackered, i´ve had to take a few days off work and i´m getting nothing done at the moment...sorry chaps, as soon as the injections start to work i´ll be getting busy again...curse word must be getting old. At least we know that the winch i bought for the trailer is now up to the job and we´ll be getting another one for the transporter.

'kin ell!
Just discovered this thread, seems such a shame to cut up such a nice van, but reading your reasons its hard to disagree it isn't the right choice. Certainly takes balls to do it though!
Re the grease on the ramps, I'd try to look for a nylon skid etc that could be used, the grease will definitely find it's way onto all your clothes etc every time you use them, you know it will!

Cheers Mark, that´s good point with the grease. I think i´ll close off the the underside of the ramps to make sure - will help keep the loading bay waterproof too. my back is knackered, i´ve had to take a few days off work and i´m getting nothing done at the moment...sorry chaps, as soon as the injections start to work i´ll be getting busy again...curse word must be getting old. Thanks John, much appreciated mate, it´s not easy sitting or should i say lying around at home, time on hands and loads to do outside.

Johns´trackcar is a GT6 which is going on the back of the FK....... my new tracktoy was going to be a Fiesta and is now an Escort going to be grafted onto a Scorpio Cossy floorpan

ahh sehr gut ask cliff b for tips about chopping - youve seen his minor right? ;D That´s where the inspiration is coming from, i´ve done it before backin my old rallyecross days with Audis so should be alright mate looking awesome OB great work at a fantastic pace sorry to hear about your back but know the feeling of "so much to do but ive gotta sit here doing nothing" as ive just done in the AC joint in my shoulder so sat at home doing feck all Getting old too eh Get well soon mate. cant help but think that the front wheels will have little contact with the ground at high speed with a car on the back........ especially that high up. but I cant wait to see this finished excellent work Cheers valman, I can see where you´re coming from but it shouldn´t be an issue. These Fords are front engined (this one´s getting a Merc diesel lump fitted next) and they´re built to take 1,5tonnes in the back anyway so putting a GT6 trackcar weighing in at 650kg ish should be well within its limits. ...as far as high speed goes with 72 diesel BHP this is definately going to be a cruiser not a racer anymore, especially when loaded

Well after what feels like months i´ve been able to get out in the garage and have a bit of fun. The old back is still not sorted but as long as i don´t kick the arsch out of it i should be alright. Before i get stuck into the van again there are a few jobs that needing doing before winter comes. First job up was to get the compressor out of the garage and build a bit of a shed for it to keep it out of the weather. My neighbour gave me a hand and we did all the electrics and fitted new lighting, well he did and i kept the kettle going The space i won inside was quickly used up with a welding table and a new welder that i´d promised myself years ago. and the compessor shed to turned out a bit larger than planned too. I thought i´d might aswell extend the garageroof a bit whilst i was at it ;D It´s still not quite finished but it gives me another 5 feet of dryness ;D Apologies for that ugly car parked on the drive getting in the way...it´s a donor car honest ;D Should help get the Escort up to speed for RRG 10 Back to the van. With the lefthand side welded up and painted it´s time to get the right hand side done. I´ll need to cut the top of the door off at the angle of the flatbed that you can see through the window. The glas will have to go and will be replaced with metal and painted orange. First job will be to modify the side door to fit. Looks ok from this angle.. not from this one though Looks like i´ll have to get the anglegrinder going again...

SPAAAAAAAAACCCE !!!
Thats a decent amount you gained there. The extra 5 foot will do loads for keeping garage doors open when welding, without rain or snow sweeping in.
However, do you think the outriggers you have , combined with snow will be enough to keep the roof from buckling ?
I have just come in, rain is pouring down, and I had just started in the repair of the trailer chassis.... darn!
Glad you are back in action with your back alowing you room to move.

I weirdly like those scorpios Although I like mk4 Escorts more... really wish I hadn't got rid of my old one! Anyway, back on topic - loving the build so far.. must have taken balls to cut a 'finished' project! Going to be awesomely cool beans though!

Those outriggers are made fron 3mm steel boxsection so I should be alright, if the wood starts to sag i´ll add another one, i´ve got to make some more up anyway as I think we´ll be extending the carport too in the non to distant future ;D Apologies for that ugly car parked on the drive getting in the way...it´s a donor car honest ;D Nooo! Cheers Chris, it doesn´t happen that often but i did think twice once i had the big angle grinder in my hand. The first cut is the deepest eh du kriegst die Tür nicht zu ;D great work as always.... You´re right, can´t close the side door I´ll have to chop a bit off the door anyway to match the angle of the flatbed so i´ll just have to modify the rest to fit.

OK.... Next part of the puzzle falling into place. John (GTVSaviour) got here at 02.15 with the donor car strapped securely onto Oldbus's trailer, behind the £150 V6 3liter Mitsubishi Pajero he got previously. Pajero sounds absolutely sweet. We chatted for a bit till 3am, then he crashed on "Oldbus's sofa" till 04.50, got up and went off to hop onto the Chunnel ferry on his way to Oldbus towers to deliver the donor. Oldbus race car seats and much other tut also loaded Pics hopefully when they have all settled ;D
