If you swap the Guinness for beer then you might have a deal mate DONE. This is a binding contract ;D

Hey, you can't just take "our Dave" away from his Taunus Transit for your own gain ;-)

Great progress work! I was about to suggest how to attach the ramp but you beat me to it! If you do get the rattles it should hopefully only be when the car is off it (Weight should hold it down well enough when on), maybe a wingnut style bolt through each ramp near the top and bottom will secure it from any movement/rattling? I don't think the weight of the car has anything to do with the rattling of the ramps as the car will be standing on the flatbed and the ramps are under it. Having small wheels on the underside of the ramp would make moving it up and down easier, and possibly stop rattling if they have some soft-ish "tire". If the ramp is in use they'd just be in the air. But that's some unnecessary extra complications as I'm sure it will all work just fine like this. Great work Dave, as always! Ah, my bad, from the image of the ramps I thought they may have been going to be drawn up with the car or something. If they're just sliding in then some hard rubber, and maybe designing the front edge so that it wedges into a wedge or angels area that will jam it in place will save having to get near the front of the ramps. On that thought, what if the ramps were to draw up with the car? Drive/winch car onto ramps, attach car at all 4 tyres before it's too high in the air, then drag car and ramps up, fit big-ass locating pins through ramps to secure it all and away you go. would work easiest with ramps fixed at same angle as flatbed, but could also work with heavy duty wheels/castors on the ends of the ramps.

great to see this progressing so fast! I swear there was a simple design feature Brian James changed on their trailers to stop the ramps rattling. Sadly i found this out when my mate said his had gone missing which is why they rattled like f*ck when we were towing - hence i've never actually seen what this solution might be - ... might be worth investigating tho Dave.

To stop the ramps rattling could you mount something like skateboard wheels on the van bed to roll the ramps in and have clamps like this: John.

Fantastic work as usual Dave! Cheers mate great work Dave . I've been busy doing house stuff lately and can't get going on any of my projects at the mo but seeing this is making me want to get back down the workshop and start building something ..the speed you work at Mark, you can easily take a couple of months off and you´ll still be quicker than the rest of us! If you swap the Guinness for beer then you might have a deal mate DONE. This is a binding contract ;D Now all you need to do is sort out the details with my secretary Hey, you can't just take "our Dave" away from his Taunus Transit for your own gain ;-) Had to laugh at that, actually it´s not mine any more I don't think the weight of the car has anything to do with the rattling of the ramps as the car will be standing on the flatbed and the ramps are under it. Your idea with the ramps would probably work quite nicely but it would involve me having to redesign the whole set up and as i´m nearly finished i don´t fancy doing that unless i have to. I think your idea with a wedge of some sort is a good un and could well get used if we need to, thanks for that! ;D great to see this progressing so fast! I´m on to it Keith, cheers mate To stop the ramps rattling could you mount something like skateboard wheels on the van bed to roll the ramps in and have clamps like this: John. Cheers John, the skateboard wheel on the frame idea is a good one, i´ll definetly have a play with that idea.....runs off to attack the kids´ old skateboards whilst they´re still asleep... With the weather being really nice over here at the moment i was out yesterday helping our Alex getting his T4 sorted, but took the time once it was dark to sand down the middle strip on the side panel and give it a coat of 2K black... i´ll give it the rest of today to dry thoroughly and stick the white stickers on tonight. This morning i´m off out with the kids and a mate of mine doing a scrapyard tour looking for T4 bits....i think i´ll take a camera just incase ;D

I managed to get the stickers done yesterday afternoon... and get the van out in the fresh air to give me a chance to tidy up the garage... Alex´s T4 is getting done paralell too and my mates Trabby needed the steering adjusting so we had a bit of a mixed car park There won´t be anything getting done today as we´re off to a classic car meet with massive car boot sale, our last proper outing with the Capri this year..

Updates Dave ? I know you have been away the weekend ;D LOl, thanks for putting us up again on Friday ;D I was busy last week getting the trailer sorted. It needed the electrics redoing and i treated myself to a new electric winch... so without hijacking John´s thread too much once the winch was sorted i popped over to the UK at the weekend to get this little beut... a 1947 Rover 16 i´m busy this week but should be able to get some work done on the van at the weekend.

Great looking car Dave.
LOVE the suicide doors, and the aircon.
Nicola was peeking over my shoulder, and also said she is chuffed that Ulla is getting a car at last.

Hmmm. Maybe instead of selling the CF, I should ship it over to Germany for a make-over. Would be nice to have a car transporter again! Excellent work. Great to watch for a numpty like me!
