I installed the poly bushings for the front end a while ago, it was probably one of the least-fun things you can do with a car. The first lower a-arm took about four hours including dismantling but the second only about 15 minutes once the correct technique using a angle grinder and air chisel was mastered, the upper arms were a whole other story... although they also were alot easier using the right tools. Here's proof that they're in place For future reference two jacks makes life alot easier taking things apart and back together without spring compressors. I also cut half a coil off the front springs, lowered it about an inch. Now i'm desperately trying to find some proper lowering springs as it's just too soft to lower any more on the stock ones. One of the header tubes is already half the size it's supposed to be. here's a pic of what once was a subframe, further rear most of the side is rusted loose. I've also come to the conclusion that connecting a vacuum hose to the distributor might have a positive effect on fuel consumption, but as the car runs rather sweet as it is I guess it needs ported vacuum. Anyone have any advice on this? The engine is running mercruiser thunderbolt ignition parts, and here's a pic of the carb without any connections whatsoever for ported vacuum, Which one is ported vacuum, or is there even one on this carb? If there is, how do you go about opening it an installing a connection? thanks in advance Edit: Now i've connected the dizzy to full manifold vacuum, which according to the butt-dyno was a good thing to do, it raised the idle a bit, which was easily lowered to 500 rpm, without getting the desired unstable idle ;D I don't have a timing light available, but i'll check it when I find one.

The new rims redrilled. Redrilling done the low-brow way by using a brake drum for the pattern.. The taper angle didn't turn out exactly the same either, but there's plenty of material and it's rather soft so i think it'll be alright.

Awesome car! Love it! It should look the nuts on those wheels? I assume they're going only on the back ?

why not get drop spindles for the front and put stiffer springs in instead of lowered springs or for even more low get both I'll get it low enough with lowering springs when I have the founds for them, there's no need for drop spindles. Awesome car! Love it! It should look the nuts on those wheels? I assume they're going only on the back ? Thank you! The cragars are for the front, or acctually they're fitted already, haven't got any pics yet though. I got some 215/55's for free which look a bit modern, but they'll do for now. The rear got 15x6,5 caprice steels with 265/70 tires. They're huge. ;D

ive always fancied an earlier front end on mine (sharknose) in Glassfibre like a flip front but they are megga expensive and even more to import ggrrr Here's the company I talked about in a previous post which I accidentally somehow deleted , www.rpglasfiber.com If I understand correctly all the glass parts for a 70-73 RS would be about 6000 swedish kroner. Obviously you also need lights, grill mesh and so on.. They've also had flip fronts, but i didn't find any on their page anymore.

This car just gets nicer and nicer.
There's just something unashamedly don’t-give-a-damn cool about a big, bruising 70s US coupe wearing its battle scars with pride. Top motor!
Always had a soft spot for these. Bullnose Firebirds too…
Good work!

as you say they are 15's on the rear then what are the fronts are they also 15s as the profile picture makes it look like 16" on the front?
i have a spare set of 15" iroc rims the 5 gold spoke version so might need to up the tyre size from what is currently as as i believe they could be shot by the time i gets on the road!
lookins ace anyhow

andrzejbubez - the fronts are 16" A friend with a lathe made me some nylon bushings for the front spring eyes, so we did the herb adams mod while we were at it. And a whole lot of rust welding ;D The very solid bushings One of the spring mounts... I didn't get a chance to get a pic of the stock bushings and the 3 out of 6 bolt holes no longer connected to the car... But I guess you get the idea Reinforced for heavy duty use We used 16mm bolts instead of the stock 12mm(or was it 10?), just in case ;D Do you reccon we use a big enough welder? Also note the not-tinted rear lights. Cut to get some room for the spring, and painted. Intermission ;D Me trying to look like I acctually do something important. Finally everybody gets their mental image of "dude" ruined And finally a picture of them mounted. I haven't got a proper chance to try them out yet (as i'm so skint I can't afford petrol) But the 5 minute test drive I took felt promising, all the clonking and weird noises had gone away, no more rubbing issues and the car felt alot more responsive. I also had to get some new belts for mot, so I found some generic lap belts... Only for the test ofcourse
