yeah.. Dale, it down to you at the end of the day. you could make a penny or two by passing it on it your strapped for cash.. of enjoy it for a few months then pass it on. if i was you like what been said nothing OTT. i wouldn't touch under the bonnet.. maybe whack a 5 speed in it for easy cruising ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) set of springs and wheels are always reversible. then like i said the other day ghia trim in side to make it a bit more luxurious. same as what i've done with mine. it will make for a cracking summer wagon ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

How come the Mk4 is the least surviving Cortina of the 5? Sorry for the noob question, but as a Dutchy I don't know much about Cortina's.

volks man, not quite sure tbh, its not to do with production years, the mk1 was 62-66,mk2 was 66-70 mk3 was 70-76 mk4 was 76-79 and the mk5 was 79-82. i think it was the least loved so got scrapped/raced more often. i did have the numbers of remaining mk4 tinas somewhere ....................

Dude, DON'T CUT IT UP!!!, just lower it and put on some nice rims, a period roof rack and thats it. You say you should pass it on to somebody else but what about you? You found it - you enjoy it! Just make sure you only mod things that can be reversed and keep all the original parts. - wheels, exhaust and springs = win. That pic with the alleycats sums it up. You know it makes sense.

Lower it a bit and band the current alloys. Chrome rings and centre caps would look awesome and won't take anything away from the originality of it. Of course it's your car ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) and I'm sure it'll look good regardless!

How about some banded L steels, lowerd quite savagely (that's more than 2 inches in my book but hey i'm ni-on 40, have manboobs and don't own a sports bra! ) a roofrack, tartan rug on the backseat and a wheelchair in the back? Sort of like Fleets Mk5 but more ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) i think the Mk4 will suit the cleaner look better with the smaller bumpers ;D

hmmm for the money to band the steels.. like £160 may as well just whack mex steels of the capri LS steels on there. the only thing you wont have is the tyre stretch... which you don't like anyway ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) cheap dish ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Zetec would be quite an easy conversion wouldn't it? Cheap as chips, all the bits and expertise must be out the for the Escort boys. Better economy and a bit more power, and isn't fairly easy to run them on factory management if you use an older one? Then, when money comes available, TB's or bike carbs ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) If I had the time, I'd get a mk 4 Auto, do the above and use it to commute in!
