I always use the bodyshop stick on sound deadening, it was loads cheaper per metre sq than dynamat and seemed to work just as well. Two 10" Infinitys in my AX and the only thing that rattled was the sunroof! Goes on really nicely with a hot air gun to follow the shapes too.

Goes on really nicely with a hot air gun to follow the shapes too. That's quite important as the boot floor is ridged throughout. Shame I can't toss some flashing tape on and see what it's like. Have to decide and run with it as it's not on the road to see how it's deadened the noise. Ta

I got these bushes out of the leaf spring shoes, would anyone know of a good site/shop to replace these with poly ones? The bore is 15mm for both. The smaller ones are 25mm across, the larger boarding on 50mm I wouldn't recomend taking measurements of rubber bushes when making new ones out of a much harder material... I've tried it ;D Resulting in lots of grinding, filing and sanding ;D Very nice car btw, lots of potential.

Now, do I lacquer polished ally? Or leave it and just keep it polished? Get them polished then clear powder coated - lasts much longer than lacquer.

those rims are 7" wide buddy - you measure from bead to bead, not total width of the rim. If you measure the total diameter of the rims you'll find they wont be 13" etc.

Some update pics! Been working as and when I have some time off coaching which matches some good weather. Inner Arch Patch Removed the stripes! (Heat gun... thanks HongKong) Bullet 'wing' mirrors added for a visual confirmation these are the ones I want. Couple of pics as it is now... Inner arch lip started.. Pleased with this one! And ground back... Whole of the arch lip done!!! You can hardly even tell. Was very pleased with this when I'd done! And THE most satisfying moment yet welding in the body panel arch! Was so nervous starting it but if I smoked, I feel it was most definitately a "ciggy moment" Clamped a bar of copper behind the seam as suggested by a friend who welds professionally. Seemed to disapate heat well and I think it helped the weld. .... the most nervous I've been yet! Followed by the most amazing feeling yet!!! Seriously, very chuffed!!!! Just finished seaming the weld and I'm going to grind it down tomorrow.

Just as a quick question to those established and excellent welders out there, have you any tips on how to turn the tacked panel into a well run seam? The problem I have is that it seems to look like a lot more tacks, rather than a seam. A little worried about the penetration. Chris

Second panel tacked on today, aswell as seaming and grinding back the first. Off coaching again now tho, so some hopefully finish this arch tomorrow afternoon. Was a lot happier with the seam today anyway, although a little worried I didn't let the panel cool quite enough between welds, I heard a few cracks as it was getting a little hot.

Nice resto. I have a pair of these mirrors you can have for a meagre amount of money on Paypal. They came off my Datsun. Give me a call to arrange 07956 831422. Charlie

Latest. One patch left, with hindsight, I'd have tried harder to get 2 panels maximum, but didn't want to push my panel beating skills too much.

About the most fun I've had yet on the Galant. Borrowed HongKong's engine crane (thanks bro) and whipped it out. Should have drained the gearbox oil first really, but you learn.
Photos to follow.

Engine gone... About the most fun thing I've done on it yet, and that title has some competition!! 8) Now to clean the engine bay and source a write-off/cheap Starion (leaning towards 2.6l again now haha)
