Behold. It's in for a bit of a baptism of fire, as the BX registered its disapproval at having to share a driveway with an air-cooled cousin by lunching a rear suspension canister yesterday on the way home from work. It's now VOR until I find a replacement can.....so the Dyane's being pressed into front-line service from the word go, at least for a few days. Looks cool though, doesn't it? This is not just patina. This is 'off road in a barn/garden since 1995' patina. And patina which I should like to preserve. Under that cowl lurks 602cc and 31bhp of throbbing flat-twin. Even the roof's nicely worn-in. The almost total lack of silencing ensures that this innocent-looking peashooter 'zorst sounds like The Apocalypse. ;D Plans? Well it's arrival's been hastened somewhat by the Bee-Arxe throwing its metaphorical dummy out, so there were one or two jobs I wanted to do before using it in anger. So next weekend will see the heads off and re-sealed, and an oil change/greasing session....then once the BX is back in action the Dyane can have the bejesus slammed out of it, and I can then look forward to a summer of roadtrips/partying.

If we get time we'll get busy with the Molegrips next weekend, and whack a few inches out of the ride height. I'm having to be really careful what I do, as I've got an open wound on my LH middle finger with bits of guts/blood vessel hanging out of it which I'm waiting to have operated on and so can't get infected...... To properly slam them though, it needs a new pair of cut/welded front radius arms....otherwise they kinda lose interest in semi-important stuff like camber, and self-centering steering. ;D

Great stuff! I love Dyanes. They're just so strange! I think that's the attraction for me, too. What happened was....Citroen took over Panhard in 1964, and the first job they gave to the design team (headed by Robert Opron) was to redesign the 2CV...after a bit of refining by Citroen what became the Dyane emerged in 1967. As we all now know, the Dyane never actually replaced the 2CV, but was sold alongside it at a price premium of approximately 10%. It died in 1983, but was outlived by the Tin Snail by seven years. Certainly from the outside it has a certain late 60's/early 70's appeal...think Serge Gainsbourg/16mm colour film with lens flare/Alain Delon/'The Persuaders'/Moustaches/'Girl On a Motorcycle'...that's the appeal as far as I'm concerned.

Nice one Brian. Loving the patina, loving the car. I couldn't help but to take a stick to it though - just to help you on your way..... This car is gonna rock!

X3.
Mine lasted two days before I raised it back up again. They're much more fun at stock height.

I recommend screwing castors to the doorhandles, just to invite concern from nervous passengers.

Nowt to report......175 miles in, and nothing's fallen off......but 46mpg is an unexpected bonus. Especially since I just cannot resist the loud pedal...which really does live up to its name with that exhaust. I have managed to find someone to louvre my side-panels though......hur hur ;D

Running report: Days owned: 5 Miles covered: 240+ Bits fallen off: 0 MPG: 46 Grin factor: Infinite. What a BRILLIANT car. I have to say I've not enjoyed the drive to work so much in years. Considering I've had to throw it in at the metaphorical deep end this week, its performance has been nothing short of amazing....especially seeing as it's STILL running on 1990-something oil. Even in boiling temperatures and heavy traffic it's been marvellous, and has proved more than capable of keeping up with most things on the motorway too. Has regularly been driven at offtheclockmph. Things to do: Fresh oil/filter (for my peace of mind and to preserve that marvellously willing little engine) Seal heads (I'm getting my smokers cough back and I quit 14 months ago) Oil leak (before SWMBO notices....) OSF headlight dim It needs to go LOWER. I kinda knew I wouldn't regret buying it, and so it's proved to be.
