the original 1.2 8v has about 60bhp standard iirc. spot on mate the ma12 is 60bhp@5800rpm iirc, the cg13 is 75bhp stock, with the carbs and manifold I would expect the current setup to be easily running in the 95-100 bhp range, just replacing the stock manifold with a janspeed item on the 1.3's takes it from 75 to 99bhp (rolling road proven I might add) this will fly! my 1.0 was running about 95bhp and did 0-60 in 7 seconds so I would expect this to easily do that if not mid to low 6 seconds

leigh - cheers dude, I'm a lucky man to have a girl that doesn't mind getting her hands dirty. ukmercman - cheers dude Speedle - I'll pass on the kit dude but will steal one of your other ideas, think I'm gonna satin black the b-pillars, makes the window area look like one piece. dave 120a - cheers dude, check this out ;D Today, after a rainy ride over to theundertakers on SWMBOs moped to get some scotch pads and some 400 discs, I got to work getting some filler on the welding and flatting it all down. Took a short break to fit a towbar to charlatan1s Audi - Good to see you again dude, I'll look after your spare til the next playday Meanwhile theundertaker had shown up and started masking and getting some primer on. After dinner we were straight back out there, here's theundertaker putting the first coat of basecoat on First coat of topcoat Second coat of topcoat And partially demasked! ;D ;D ;D So stoked, thank you so much Charli, you're a f**king star! ;D

Really, REALLY couldn't have done it without you or the coffee [long day]. The bay looks wicked...I still reckon a matching cam cover, but top work to you and Charlie. I was hoping that my intervention hadn't put you too far behind schedule but you looked to have cracked on just fine. This car [almost] makes me want a micra! Top work fella, and the beers are on me come November. Now crack on and get it back in and set up! We'll take the two carb'd monsters out for a spin when you next come up ;D morgs

Ace. There are tons of giffer owned K10's around here. Keep thinking about one as a cheap work runaround, dropped on 16" steels hehe.

phoenixescort - Cheers dude Speedle - I did consider black but I'm glad I went for red, opening the bonnet will be like taking off a pretty average dress to discover red lingerie underneath! ;D charlatan1 - Glad to have been able to help Morgs, I'm looking forward to seeing/hearing yours on the road namless - Cheers dude, it's Toyota flame red apparently dave120a - Yeah swing on past at some stage, I'm aiming to have it back on the road over the weekend stealthstylz - Do it Matt! Get a 1litre one though, they rev harder and use less fuel. 4x100 means that the world is your oyster colonelk - Cheers Mark, I'm on it PrOgReSs! Yesterday was mainly spent realising just what a small proportion of the engine bay stuff I'd actually cleaned up! So lots more cleaning, painting, threading loom and brake lines all whilst trying not to scratch the paint. I think that could be why I don't usually 'do' shiny, reassembly has been such a slow process. Close of play yesterday Today saw more of the same, 7pm: Yesterday I'd been to Sainsburys to buy some tea strainers air filters. This evening it was time to make them fit. Take 4 potential air filters...................... ...................and rework into something that'll stop leaves/stones/nuts and bolts/small children being sucked into the carbs Then put the engine back in, Close of play tonight, nearly plumbed Damn postal strike means it looks like it'll be Saturday before my re-jetting drills turn up, Nevermind, more soon!

Looking good, but those tea strainers look very restrictive, and having a flat rather than trumpet type opening to the carb gives very poor flow efficiency - I wouldn't be surprised if you find it runs bad with them on. Go on slash out on one of these, you can get them with a blank face plate to cut to your own fitment and get some of these modded to fit - length wise you want the longest you can get, but for flow they need to be no more than 1/3 the height of the filter - this should improve the bottom end torque quite a bit which on a road car is much more important than top end. I know they're not that cheap, but you've done such a great job on the rest it'd be a shame not to finish it off properly Plus with those trumpets you could pop off the filter at shows for some extra WIN in the engine bay ;D

Phoenix (or anyone who knows) Why do the longer trumpets give better bottom end torque?

ideally you want the original airbox on, bike carbs work best with them
