Theres very little i like about modern cars but footwell lights is one that I do like . So ive wired a pair of small red ones in , They come on with the interior light if ether door is opened or if the interior light is turned on by its own switch

Looks great I like little adjustments to classics, I quite liked the idea of having the little puddle lights you find on some modern cars but never brave enough to chop some mirrors up and fit them!

simple , fit puddle lights to the bottom of the doors.
love the hint of "bangkok knocking shop" that the red footwell lights give to the job....very nice!

Not happy with the look of previous engine bay light ive custom made one from start to finish . All built from junk , face plates a bit of dead imp , back part is a mains motor capacitor cover , a spare isolated lamp holder , this is all spot welded together. Switch was from a mate , lens is ex sandwich box but microwaveable so will stand 100˚C , some 150˚C rated wire , a few crimps , grommets and a S/H bulb . Rubber gasket is a bit of old car tyre inner tube .🤣 Works well and looks better I think

Yes... I stood in the carpark (retail/cinemas) that 'was' the bodyshop at Linwood. Stood there in the silence & sunlight - imagining the din [/notstrikeday] the tea trolley craic + hot pies! .... Your car [& mine!] crept through there ;<) Cut up, by Clark, for parts... A survivor, yours, for sure! OVIMOR

.... A 'tankslapping' Mk IV Cortina taxi shortened KOE, about a foot..!, with me in it - fortunately I had fitted I/R seatbelts so I came away without a steering wheel shaped smile!!
Shell went to Clark

Glad your OK after that - scary stuff - at least parts got used on other cars - in the past ive cut up about 40 Imps for parts , back in the early 80s you couldnt give them away , i bought loads for less than £50 each - many with MOTs and tax All four of these drove and were on the road , the green one bottom left cost £40 with 7 months MOT , a full tank of fuel ( about £12 back then ) and 7 months tax which i cashed in - i just cut it up for bits even though it ran fine

With my Commer Imp still very dead ive spent a bit of time sorting something that has annoyed me on the Singer . One is the missing two tangs for the centre boot trim , i use brass nuts and bolts fitted to these tangs now but with two gone the board was starting to warp . Anyway ive made and fitted two new tangs and fitted the bolts and nuts like the other three. Also fitted some edging on the vertical sides as this too was warping , basically a bit of thin stainless folded in half and pushed on the edge . Now with the right amount of fixings As it was

Well it passed its final legally required MOT , Rear brakes are slightly uneven but il look at that at some point plus front N/S wheel bearing has slight play and its usual factory fitted oil leak . We stuck it on the emissions tested and its perfect , tickover is real smooth how its set and revving to 4000 RPM gave a C0 of 4% , machines still showing red though as its set for a modern engine . Front drums nice and even Not bad for a 50 year old engine with no stem seals and carbs off a Triumph Spitfire

Well things went all to pot today . Planned on taking the Singer down the coast for fish and chips ( for me not the car  ) Didnt make it there and nearly never made it home . Id done around 15 miles and the engine spluttered twice ,I pulled in and stupidly turned it off - the result being it wouldnt restart , Well it did eventually after a fight and I decided it best to just head home - miss fired and spluttered now and again but kept moving --- that is until i came four cars length from a busy crossroads where it died , this time it refused point blank to start - i checked for fuel ( OK ) , Spark ( OK ) but it was having none of it - eventually the battery started to die but not before the starter motor smelt rather hot  . Some time later a kind person stopped and offered help , we pushed it across the cross roads and down the slight hill on tother side whereby bump starting it got it going . Managed another 7 miles before it did it again although this time it did fire up eventually , it did this twice more on the way home but eventually i made it back. Checked the fuel pump ( working fine ) , checked the needle valves and for fuel in the float chambers ( both fine ) , then i swapped the dizzy for a spare i had with known working points , condenser etc ,( it ran ) , swapped the coil ( it ran - i turned it off then it wouldnt restart ) , swapped the coil back ( it ran and restarted OK ) Went for a 20 mile drive , power was well down but it ran OK ish - stopped for fuel whereby it wasnt keen on starting but did on the second turn - much better than before . Drove 20 miles home and after a bit of testing found the centrifugal advance on the spare dizzy partially seized so fitted new ( old stock genuine ) points , condenser , rotor arm to the original dizzy and refitted it. Power back as it was and touch wood after 15 more miles plus a few turning it off and restarting it seems OK . I can therefor only conclude that the Pertronics electronic ignition has failed I did get a nice sunset pic on the way home from the final test run though

Fair play to you. I would given up & done a Basil Fawlty & beat it with a tree branch long before that beautiful sunset.

Used it for work today and its behaved perfectly therefor I'm 100% positive that the problem was the Aldon Pertronics electronic ignition that failed ------- the only modern thing on the whole engine , Makes you wonder sometimes about the quality of stuff being made today
