Hi all here is my corsa race car. I got it over 2 years ago to use over winter as at the time I had a 500bhp rwd yank and did not want to fall of the road in the snow. so I got this of ebay for £300 with 12 months mot.  after being cutup I hit a curb and bent the left hand side steel wheels so I got astra mk3 alloys from the scrap yard and had new tyres fitted for £80 and also got some M3 mirrors or £10  I used the car like that for winter and parked it up in my lock up till last winter. I tryed to sell the car back on ebay but no one wanted it. and well then I was looking to run a car at santa pod for a bit of fun and started to think about that old corsa I had in the lock up. well one night I looked on google about tuneing vauxhall 1.5 TD engine and what I see on there was very good. you can turn up the boost. I got some parts from a mate cheap. a brand new cone filter for £3 and a free cut out pipe ;D   then it was time to make the car lighter.    I got this from the scrap yard. its a bit chav but its made of fiberglass so is light.   here is the engine. the air filter now comes of the turbo and there is now a boost valve to up the boost from 0.6 bar to 1.4 bar ;D  |

That's an unusual choice of base car for a racer... love it! ;D Can you advance the pump timing on these to get more power? I know you can on the Peugeot diesels.  |

yes you can mate and that will be the next thing I play with. I have done the polo mod in the pump and turnd the fuel and boost up.
the best time at the pod has been 16.71 @ 79mph and that was with the back brakes stuck on and the steering well out as I have now lowerd it over 60mm

they are good fun. they are just as fast as a nova sr and then when you tune them they go a hell of alot better

as I run under the name Back in Black racing I painted the car satin black and it cost me about £30 to do. here it is having the cut out pipe fitted. it went were the cat was   inside I have fitted a 5" tack with shift light. I had to get a pulse converter as it is a diesel and has no coil  here you can see how the air filter comes out of the head light. all I have to do is turn the pipe round and pop the light out.  I got some allmost new front lowering spring and uprated shocks for £15 each. and also fitted rubber helper springs aswell as 40mm lower springs to the back |

Whats the 'polo' mod?
Is that shimming the governer spring in the pump?
any plans to change the pumps 'head'? guys on the pug306 website are at that now, removing the 9mm plunger or 'head' from the pump and fitting an 11mm from a transit. bigger plunger = more fuel = more power
Ive only upped the max fuel and boost on my 306 dturbo, running 21-23psi now

its the white ring that sits under the plunger. by taking that out it can move up and down more so you can turn the fuel up more. you can not tune the vauxhalls the same as the guys with pugs can.

its the white ring that sits under the plunger. by taking that out it can move up and down more so you can turn the fuel up more. aw aye, ive got that removed too, release now why its called the 'polo' mod lol I also have the egr completely removed. Are you sure you cant shim the governer springs? the 1.6 VW guys have been doing it for years on their aul yoks. Doing so eliminates the fuel supply being cut off at around 4500rpm. allows her to rev up past 5000rpm. here's info to pump internal modification on a 306, cant see it being too different on a bosch ve pumped corsa. its worth a read if your into diesel tuning. www.pug306.net/forum/showthread.php?t=67216 |
