Although my Fiats are a long way from being ready to respray I have been thinking about colour choices. I have seen the saloons in many colours in brochures etc, but my estate car is so rare that pictures in different colours are limited.
My question is could photoshop be used to modify a picture of my car to show what it would look like in different colours?
If so, how do I go about doing it? How do you get photoshop, as I don't think we currently have it on our computer.
Thanks in advance!

Photoshop will set you back a few hundred pounds unless you source it by less legitimate means

You still have a couple of options (if software piracy's not your thang... ;D): There is a program called Gimp, which is a freeware (I think?) alternative to Photoshop. I've never used it myself but I've heard good things about it. There's also Photoshop Elements, which is a pared-down version of Photoshop but still has a lot of functionality without the big pricetag of a fully-licensed PS program.

Just discovered we have Photoshop Elements on the computer so I'm off to give that a try, otherwise I will look out for Gimp. Thanks for the heads up.

Been trying with elements. Not the easiest thing to master!
Perhaps I will just have to imagine it in different colours!

It all takes a while to get used to. I am doing my final year of a design course and have used photoshop for commercial purposes too but still don't know what half of the functions are!

Hiya.
I've got Photoshop, just post up some pictures of your car and tell me what colours you'd like to try, I'll do it for you.

OK here we go..... This is the best shot I have of it at the mo. Not ideal but at the moment it is not possible to get any more pics. Colours? Metallic green, silver, blue or red are possible choices at the moment..... Pic: Thanks!

Lovely! Red looks terrible, not keen on the blue either! Green however looks promising. Can a metallic finish be applied to the above colours?
Thanks a lot, thats great!
Looking at it again, that really is a super job. Much better than my lame attempts!

Ah, not too sure as how to go about creating a metallic effect, this is the best i could do. orig: metallic? (maybe a tad too dark) :

Hmm maybe add some noise to the image to make it look like the little sparkly bits.

New layer in green colour, add noise about 10%, go to levels and shift the dark arrow to the right to get rid of the dark noise, in the layer type select 'lighter' then play about with opacity. There are better ways of doing it, but they take ages.
