If it's been sat for that long, the first thing you've gotta do is clean all the stale fuel out - it'll be like varnish in the carb.

also check the spark plug is not covered in carbon gunk. Take out the spark plug and check if it's wet (fuel is getting in good) or dry (no fuel bad). Once you have fuel in the system, make sure you have spark, lie the connect spark plug again the engine head spin/kick the engine over, you should be awarded with a healthy spark.
Don't know how much mechanical skill you have, but you do realize this thing has to have two stoke oil in it before you start it up?

i have 2 stroke oil in it. i have a spark but it aint a bright one. guessing i need a new spark plug.
i stripped the carb down today (in the sink), cleaned it and put it back together, bolted it to the ped dragged it out side and if fired up! wasnt sounding too good but I'm guessing thats the plug at fault.

Good! glad it fired up for you.
how bad sounding? check exhaust for the brown cancer, lots of mopeds die there.

Nice little Honda, I had an '87 NE 50 (practically the same machine). Great little thing, albeit very slow! Mine was a bit noisey as the exhaust was loose so check that for that, if it has been sitting for a while the exhaust box is probably holed., the box on my daily ped seems to corrode overnight! Also check that the oil is getting through the mix with the fuel, I had a ped a while back and the mechanism which allowed the oil through was seized so that's something worth checking for whilst you've got it in bits. Here's a few pic's of my old one. Parts are easy to get on fleabay for these & if looked after I've found that they outlive the modern cr*p that's available. Nice find fella, hope you get her up & running.

Yep, if you've got a lot of carbon & unburnt fuel deposits in the exhaust then it'll really hurt it.
Take off the exhaust pipe and look into the cylinder, you may well find that black/brown goop is resticting the outlet. Clean it out carefully with a butter knife or pallet knife.
Then, pop the whole exhaust pipe onto a BBQ for a couple of hours, really cook the sucker, then after its cooled, bash the now powdered deposits out using a rubber mallet.
Clean that begger right out and it should be able to breathe better

has this one got the vaccum fuel tap? as in it only opens when you kick the engine over? they sometimes get jammed,.... once the tank is cleaned out. chuck some fuel in and take the fuel line off from the tank. suck the vaccum pipe (not fuel pipe) and see if any fuel comes out of the fuel line. (it should) if so then connect it up to the carb. and take the drain plug from the carb base out. suck vaccum again and wait till it pours out of carb (that way you know the carb is allowing fuel in) refit the plug in the bowl. check for a nice fat blue spark (earth the plug against the exhaust manifold or head (if accesible) clip on the ht cap and kick it over with the ignition on. it should be blue. if its orange first stop is change the plug. then regap it. and try again. if its blue. and you have fuel in the carb. it should go if still no luck. remove the carb and clean all the jets (if any ) (ive had some wierd carbs on my old bikes)

IT RUNS!!! but only for a few seconds, i start it up but it runs for about 30 seconds then dies, i then have to drain the carb to be able to start it again, does anyone know why it does this? heres a pic of the screws on the carb how do i adjust it to get it running consistantly? the bottom screw is the drain, the top one i believe is the adjustment for the idle, i have no idea what the middle one is, can any one help me?
