Thanks for looking guys, The repairs are not so bad when you look at them one bit at a time, although some have to be done in a sequence. It was only after seeing TonyBMW's postings of his repairs that i got the bottle and inclination to make a start at these rust repairs Go for it !!! Cut the arch off of the old front wing, drew around it onto the rear wing and cut the rusty arch off leaving a 10mm band i will joddle to rest the arch section on before welding Will not fit this yet as it gives more working space to do the repairs to the chassis and get the new wheeltub in and out

Super work there mate. Did you have a plan when you started the project or is it developing all the time?. Hats off for the work on the bodywork.

Hi Deanchad, my plan is to keep the car as stock as possible but with the new engine and box and cooling system. Also trying to use standard car parts rather than after market parts to keep the authentic look. The body repairs i am doing right now are a necessity as the rust was so bad in the inner arches etc. would have preferred to keep it standard but replacement wheel tubs are a fortune. Tonights progress repair piece to the inner section of chassis Then the outer section mate came round and cleaned some of the doorshut He specialises in making a mess of my garage, but its more progress so i shouldnt complain

Result Welshpug Fitted lowering blocks and wheels then sat on ground to check how the wheel arch looks and the ride height Sits ok with a battery, diff and 6 brake discs in the boot, so this should be the ride height when its trimmed, fueled up, and water in the system , plenty of scope for wider wheels
