Fabricated the tinwork for the sierra radiator in the boot floor Still to make a plenum to duct the air to the rear panel and fit a mesh insert behind the number plate, but need to make a new section of boot gutter rail first.... then weld all in place. twin fans will also make an air scoop below the rad facing forward , but will wait till its on 4 wheels at ride height before i do this so its not too low, probably be a bit lower than the original fuel tank

Ah, so you have a history of fitting monster engines into unsuitable cars? Truly astounding the lengths you are going to in getting that engine to fit. Good luck!

Guilty as charged sam very early example 3L V6 in Mk1 Cortina anyway Made a support frame for the fuel tank front strap bolts through panel over inner wheel arch rear support strap will be bolted to an angle framework which will also allow a cover panel to be fixed to it Need to find a nice small flush filler cap now to to let into the panel between the rear screen and boot lid

Not found a small flush lockable filler cap and neck yet so fitted a 9 inch fan to the chargecooler rad in the front. had to weld litle tabs with studs in to the rad itself, cut off an original fixing lug and alter the bonnet release lightly Anyone suggest a source for a flush lockable petrol filler cap and steel filler neck ??

Cinq ones are domed, although still quite flush, but mounted upright it'll jam worse than it would in a Cinq. Shame it's not a round rear light model else I'd have suggested a mk1 Fezza cap to echo the rear lights img.photobucket.com/albums/v53/sp_69/10112009224.jpgMk4 Escort caps were nearly flat and locked and lifted out by the key? You'd have to recess it in though.

Will look into those options, cheers I need to sink the cap in so its flush as the bootlid would hit it in the open position As the panel is only flat for 75mm any cap i french in will have to be undone and lifted out with the key Underneath the panel the pipe (32mm) will have to turn 90deg into the side of the tank

You don't get more flush than Rover Metro/100 filler caps (not Austin), think there's a slight profile curve to them, though.

just scanned the 11 pages of this and i gotta say awesome car, awesome engine, awesome fabrication you ticked all my boxes with this one, only thing that i find a little worrying is the bench seat haha, good luck keeping your ass in the right position with that monster under the bonnet throwing you around! i'll check back for a proper read later on, top job.

Not done the filler cap yet, been looking at wheels, plus ....Brakes i have sorted the wheels, 6x15 Peugeot. With 195x50x15's these are a smaller overall diameter than the rostyles with 165 13's now to find bigger brakes. Whats the options for bigger vented discs on an escort leg with 15 inch wheels ??

Cheers guys, I have opted for a pair of Peugeot discs 305mm dia. which like the renault ones will have to be redrilled for it to fit on the back of the escort hub. Cossie calipers sit proud of the end of the disc by 30mm making an overall dia of 365mm I just measured inside my 15 inch steel wheel........366mm If i don't paint the calipers they should fit inside the rim

Well not done the filler neck or got the brakes sorted but the discs look neat Have won a pair of Porsche Brembo calipers on E-Bay , so once the discs are redrilled its down to make some Brackets to hold them

Thanks Essex Rich I did consider a bike filler but the diameter is too large for the space i have available I got a Saab filler neck and after market cap Just had half hour and made a ring to countersink into the panel under the rear window hit it hit it some more done Just have to cut a hole the right size in the car panel and don't distort it when i weld it in
