Hello fellow retro car fans! So I've done about 300 miles on it so far - still not running right though... It's still a lot of fun ;D makes some cracking noises too! I haven't booted it as it's still runnin in but I've let it off the lead a bit and it shifts! It's only running standard actuator pressure at the moment as I'm not able to set up my boost controller till it's run in. I've fixed the did leak, pulled the plate off and fixed the holes and fitted it with a new gasket - sorted I changed all the boost clamps for mikalor clamps and that didn't fix the problem, replaced the lambda sensor and that didn't fix it either... I've bought a new ecu and crank angle sensor and airflometer but unfortunately there's going to be a delay in the postage. Other things that Ive done in the last few months or so... I redid one of the rear arches that I damaged and polished my wheels again also fixed my oil temperature gauge which is good. Basically been driving it as much as I can since last week as I can't find the running problem so figure I may as well put as many miles on it as I can to run it in so that if need be I can put it on a rolling road to see what's up. I'm finding that I'm getting used to how to drive it to make the best of the 'unique' running style it has. Pins you back when the boost rises doesnt half get some looks with the noises that come out of it, really loud turbo flutter and the occasional crackles from the zorst plus every now and then one HELL of a bang on the over run! Seems to choose the most inappropriate times like when someone is waiting to cross a road with a baby or - more of a problem - when passing horses gonna have to shut it down and coast past the next one. Right off to the shops in it ;D

Thanks guys yeah hoping using it every day will help me to see the patterns in the problems too.. I've been told that my unseizing of the CAS with a hammer was a silly thing to do and could well be the source of the problems, and looking into it it 'seems' to make sense although so did all the other things I've tried! I'm still waiting on my new one so I'll continue to use it everyday and pile the miles in ;D it's enjoyable to commute in and nice knowing it's sitting outside work waiting to take me home, dodg running or not! Another problem though- my lack of a fuel gauge and knowledge of mpg yet mean fuel got a bit low yesterday and the pump sucked a load of fresh air in, it now permanently sounds like a kitten being 'chinese burned' lengthways by a gorilla... Still works but it's drivin me mad! - I think I may need some adjustable TCAs as well, as the front ride height is causing the struts to sit a bit funny on the standard TCAs and mucking up the self centre a wee bit but still I'm really loving being able to jump in and use it every day (400 miles done now ;D ) I'll get some more pics when photobucket gets it's in gear.

Cheers dude, it'll be fine I'm sure - soon as it arrives I'll fit it and also disconnect my Bee*R limiter as well in case that's causing the running issue. Oh and that 2JZ Tina sounds insane!

I LOVE this car! great choice of car, mods and engine. I know your pain regarding the engine swap. I could have launched a tried and tested 3ltr into my vectra, but I wanted boost and didnt want a normal choice of engine. So after a year of mucking about, I got my saab turbo lump idling and running properly. that first blast out in it makes it all worth while hat really and truely doff'd sir!

Holy long time no update Batman! ;D Been too busy working on it! Its going quite well, been commuting in it for a few weeks now and the journey to and from work is awesome I have an ever so slight missfire at low revs that I just can't shake but it's very easy to drive it in a way that it doesn't affect driveablity if you know what I mean. I've had a few problems since my last update but I've ironed through them slowly but surely. One was that I ran I out of fuel and it sucked the filter sock up to the pickup which was causing a massive restriction and vaporising the fuel which was causing bubbles and killing fuel pumps - expensive mistake I've tidied a few bits of body work up and refitted my back seats, fitted a nice klaxon horn too ;D I'm going to change my oil and setup my boost controller tomorrow as she's pretty much run in and ready to be properly unleashed! It's a right laugh to drive at the moment and stupidly fast so I cant imagine it with 3 times as much boost I'll hopefully find out what it's like tomorrow! At the moment it's pushing about 5-6psi out of the T28, me and my mate took it out for a blast through the lanes and I put my foot down in 2nd and 3rd and when I let off and coasted back down we were speechless for about 5 seconds then just looked at each other and burst out laughing - it's a tad quick ;D tomorrow if all goes well I'm upping the boost to 15psi.... ;D Having a lot of fun just cruising it around, it's been so long since I've been able to and had so many stumbling blocks it occasionally occurs to me when I'm driving it listening for dodgy noises etc.. That I really should appreciate the fact that it's actually moving under it's own steam legally and is functioning as a useful vehicle! Another thing to report are the flames! Yep, when the exhaust is warmed up it cracks big flames on the over-run ;D I wasnt sure if it was just deafening back fires but my girlfriend was following me through town yesterday and saw a foot long fat flame shoot out the side, perhaps I should have thought about the pavement pointing side exit! Got a few more issues to work through, the misfire would be nice to cure, spent a fortune trying to sort it so far, I also need to sort the base idle a bit too. There's a slight blow from the turbo>manifold gasket which I need to sort and a few other bits. Hopefully this weekend I'm going to find the time to tidy the engine bay a bit and paint my rocker covers up in preparation for something I'm really excited about happening next week I'll report back tomorrow after the oil change and boost fiddlage, I'll try and remember to take some pics too!

flames, poor idle and misfire at low revs might point to a vac leak or over fueling, for the vac leak could you not do a smoke test?

It's defo not a vac leak, spent a fortune on new mikalor clamps and hoses sprayed a whole can of wd on all the inlet gaskets etc.. And the reading on my EBC is correct at idle too. It's not as bad as it was now I've changed the ECU, chip, lambda, TPS, AFM etc etc etc!!!

if you have an open BOV, it's quite normal to get flames when you let of the throttle, as it's an AFM system, and measured air is dumped out, but fuel still poored in

Haha ;D cheers guys Well today was a good day.. I changed the oil and filter (forgot to put the sump plug back in and dropped 3/4 of a litre on the deck but after that I managed to fill her up and then I reconnected my boost controller. Took it out on 30% 'set' and noticed the boost raised from 5 psi to 6.5psi, me and my mate had more of a play with it and tuned it over about an hour or so, a bit on the 'gain', a bit on the 'start boost' a little higher on the 'set' bit off the 'gain' etc.. until we got it to boost at about 15psi nice and consistent - she fast as fook ;D
