Nobody do you do all your own cad design for all your brackets? I realy like the way you have done the front IFS crossmember on this car. Most builders are doing thigs all the same way you seem to have a fresh new way of doing things. Its good to see a bit of a different approach.

superb work there mate . i'd love to have your skill and know how not to mention your workshop for doing the van ;D ahh you do allright for what you have.youre cars look the nuts.looking forward to seeing the progress on the one you cut the chassis out off. grizz. we all grin madly round here ;D ;D Nobody do you do all your own cad design for all your brackets? I realy like the way you have done the front IFS crossmember on this car. Most builders are doing thigs all the same way you seem to have a fresh new way of doing things. Its good to see a bit of a different approach. I do the design on bits of paper then pass them on to the mini owner who transfers it all with cad for the proper drawings. I don't know how to work out large radius,s for things like the front crossmember so just give him reference points to work from. hopefully he will be doing drawings for all my projects now. laser cutter was round today to see where his bits went. hopefully designs will get fancier for future projects

Wayne is the chassis on the pop miged or tiged together ? I take it that this is your line of work at your day job ? As you sure know how to weld looking at this standard of work is better than having sex Well it is when you get to my age LOL.

Qhat are those uprights off? Look like they were originally macphereson strut jobbies. What was the reasoning for dumping the viva setup?

Wayne is the chassis on the pop miged or tiged together ? I take it that this is your line of work at your day job ? As you sure know how to weld looking at this standard of work is better than having sex Well it is when you get to my age LOL. the two chassis rails were migged as i needed to grind it all back. joining them together with the crossmembers it was tigged. bit of a mixture of both then. suspension brackets were tigged.exhaust brackets on chassis are migged as picture above.exhaust brackets on tube above were tigged.again some of the exhaust is tigged and other bits are done with stainless wire in the mig. strange but i wouldnt consider myself a very neat welder.used to be a pro pipe welder but was taught neatness was secondary to penetration and good weld.not my day job now though. tend to do prob 80 percent of it in possition as well so the chassis if fully welded underneath bar a couple of small bits were the jigs in the way. adam uprights are of a sierra. the viva was fooked.look at how the front control arm was supposed to pivot on the chassis. think maybe a rod end bearing was needed instead of a bit of plate plate pivoting on a bolt . vivas really are old hat. wtf would you want to put a 40 year old car part thats obselete on youre car when theres so much more choice out there. ok sierras and granadas arnt made anymore but the parts are available in youre local halfords/partco ect. really any upright were the strut comes out could be used. ill be using vauxhall on my next car if the struts come apart the same way. will try to finish exhaust tommorow.

With Vivas you're stuck with a naff stud pattern and lots of adapting to fit good brakes too.

day 9 prostreetpop.may have misled you slightly on the design front. remembered rear axle brackets for shocks were copied straight from a catalogue but altered slightly for our use. last update for this year. notched out chassis for exhaust clearance showing how its all fits silencers. have to design a couple of brackets to mount these.want one at both ends and they need to be laser cut.job for next year. merry new year wayne

marked the edge lines down the side of the rail. then marked 45 degees off them underneath. then force ;)owner to go under the jig and cut the straight lines with a thin cutting disc. then rolled the steel and used that against the side as a template for the arch and cut that with a plasma cutter. clean up. offer up rolled bit and cut slightly oversize. tacked one side then had to use clamps tp pull the other side up. tack that side then cut off excess and fully weld. took a few hours for us to do but perfect gap all round the exhaust and central to. lots of measuring to get it right.

Wayne do you have any good links for the installation of a 4 link rear end ? As I'm about to try and have a go at doing a simular setup on my 100e useing a 9 inch axle I'm thinking of trying to make a clip not unlink this one here Cheers prostreetpop and I hope you have a good new year

Wayne Very impressed by your work - but more your total approach to detail. Makes it a joy to follow progress. Small question. It seems to me that the arms supporting the rear end would not give much lateral rigidity - but you seem to consider everything. Do you intend adding a panhard rod or other locating device.? Trust 2009 is another year of great progress. Cheers.
