£1 for a 1972 beetle at an auction. Ran it for 2 years and then sold it for £500 Also bought a mk1 Escort off a bloke at work for £50. Picked it up (had 2 weeks mot + Tax left), drove straight to Cornwall in it( around 200 miles away), had a holiday in it, came home and then put a new Mot on it. Went straight through with no advisories

erm,
Piazza which was £390 (ebay).
Bought for a laugh on ebay, blezzed around until the tax and MOT ran out, did Chumbawumba Castle and JAPS in it (as well as the Cheadle John Poois croooooz), shunted round various storage places, probably going to go away for the winter, tried to sell but couldn't bear thought of being broken for LSD and found some outdoor storageage at the last minute.

Oh i paid £150 for a Ford capri from a garage when I was 17. One of my first ever cars. It had 8 months Tax but no MOT on it. My Brothers/father said i was stupid buying it as it must need money spent on it for the MOT otherwise the garage would of Mot'd it. Realised my mistake but took it to the MOT center anyway. Failed on 1 headlamp bulb. 67p and a years Mot was got

I paid £220 for a 1989 Volvo 740 GLE that Ian (dollywobbler) bought off me for £150. It's gearbox was noisy and not the smoothest thing out there, it needed some minor welding for the next MOT, but otherwise it was a fine car for doing daily trips in. It came with 12 Months MOT too. It even had half decent tyres on it (Kumho Solus KH15 V rated) Closest to that was a £260 1990 Volvo 740 2.0i SE. This needed nothing doing to it, and except a rusty spot on the wing, it was mint, being a 2 owner car with 90,000 miles. The clutch probably would have needed doing by now (it would squeak if you went off the line), but for £260 for a mint Volvo with lots of history. I did once buy a Jaguar XJ40 XJR 4.0 Litre for £200, but it needed another £300 spending on it so as to get another gearbox fitted. All of my current cars don't qualify for cheapest cars .

I payed £60 for a 1976 manta coupe but had been sat in a garden for past 18 years. Its worth more than that in parts and this was when scrap was high but it had no engine (so its getting a ford v6 slammed in)
I payed £40 for a Metro about 10 years ago then swapped it for my brothers mountain bike. Nice.

My 205 GRD....£0.00 ;D Belonged to my dad's gf, he bought her a Vitara (she'd always wanted one....) so in a fit of benevolence she gave me the Pug, still with 4 months tax in the window and MOT until March 2009. Now (and for a few months yet) my only car, doing 200+ miles a week in all weathers at anything between 53-63mpg depending how fast I push it. Starts first time, every time. All I've done is drop 200 watts of Kenwood in it to drown out the noisy diff/gearbox. Not as clean as the pics, in fact it's probably carrying 100kg of finest Worcestershire Mud underneath/up the sides/on top right now. ;D

I went to view a rover p6 v8 that one of my "cars wanted" adverts had turned up... I bid him £50, which I thought was a little cheeky, but he had already explained how desparate to get rid he was . Instead of the expected haggling, he just shrugged and said, ok.. here's the logbook and £50, can you take it away now? So I did ;D it drove out of his yard, and onto my truck. which makes my cheapest (not free) car at £ -50.
