strange question maybe, but should I be able to see the differance in width between a 195/45/13 and a 175/50/13 tire from the same manufacturer and model (Conti Sportcontact). They have the some rolling radius, so they must be equal in height, but I must be able to see the 2cm difference in widt? because I placed my tires next to my wheels and saw this: I know about stretchen and it being dangerous etc. etc. but i've seen an 195/45/13 on a 9J wheel before and it didn't looked as dangerous as it does like that on my pic. I have a strange feeling that i, even though I ordered 2 different sets (and it says 195/45/13 on the label AND tire itself) I received 4x 175/50/13? //edit: fixed big pics

You should be able to see the distance? What do the sidewall markings say?

sidewall markings say 195/45 on the 195/45 tire and 175/50 on the 175/50 tire, but when layed on the ground they are both the same width and sidewall height etc.

The heights will be very similar - 45% of 195 is 87.75 cm, 50% of 175 is 87.5 cm, so no problem there.... as for the widths, the photo is a bit deceptive, have you physically measured them, using common points, ie the outermost tread line?

i haven't measured them, but i layed them next to eachother, and they are exactly the same then. I thougt a 2cm differance in width should be visible, right? maybe this picture is clearer:

Better photo - The one on the left there is definately wider in the sense that the tread extends further towards the edge. I would say once fitted it will have a wider footprint - it just needs to be "pulled" outwards, which the fitting will do. As for the stretch, The rear of this, (pinched from the ebay thread) is a 195 45 on a 9" rim...

yeah, about the stretch, I knew it would be possible with too many dangerous effects, but seeing the tire laying next to the wheel and they SEEMED to be the same in width as the 175/50s scared me But now I look at it again, you may be right, ah well, lets roll out the hairspray tomorrow! ;D
