love these, I owned about 16 or 18 FDs but never an FE. I drove a few though. Nice drivers. I like the look of the earlier "boz eyed" ones best.

Just a quick update since I've had my dent done and even re-coloured the interior door handles as black ones were proving elusive. Driving daily now without any (recent) incidents. Still need to get the rad re-cored and really suppose I ought to sort a proper exhaust instead of just lashing it together. Eleccy fan going in next week as viscous unit is questionable. Guess I ought to do the cambelt too as I currently have to assume the one fitted is either the original one or fitted up to 1995. I promise to improved my photography and locations.

That's a lovely example, reminds me of my elder brother's one back in the day. What happened to that little flat white fellow that seems to be laying dead in front of your car!

Just some pics of the recent additions, I had a new exhaust made up as it was impossible to buy one from fleabay and in the end I gave up trying to deal with the seller..... (VX4/90 1800cc my ) anyway.. I removed the viscous fan as I had previously locked it after the viscous coupling went to poo, I've added an electric fan and also had the radiator re-cored. It's looking unlikely that I'll ever need to switch the fan on! Sadly lost my twin pipe I know it isn't stainless but I couldn't afford it. This one will last well though. Re-cored radiator, collected Monday late afternoon and returned early Wednesday. Nice. Eleccy fan in the original cowling so it all looks standard under the bonnet. and one for luck

Clutch is next on my list (and rear suspension bushes), if I turn up some bits I'll let you know!
I could use a decent carb too, mine leaks from its bottom. Must be a direct replacement though as I'm not hacking my car about just to make do.

erm!! are you suggesting I'm a car hacker? maybe so, but i hack to make better, not "make do"
think you may just need to replace the two rubber O rings that go around the jet assembly!!
I'm pretty chuffed , just found a weber conversion manifold for mine! ;D
