OK guys.... how would one go about fitting one of these: to one of these: (ignore incorrect oil cap!) Please bear in mind that (a) space is a little tight and (b) i need an explanation in words of one syllable, owing to the fact that I am an idiot....

Can you give engine details, eg compression ratio, model. Do you have any better shots of the engine bay showing everything? what ECU does this engine use? DOes it have a MAP sensor or an airflow meter?
What do you want/expect from doing this?
Tell me thses things i can help!
Cheers

to fit it - easy.
to make it work - hard

Move airbox Place charger with that opening upwards where dipstick is move throttle body to back end of Supercharger (The oval end is the inlet) One of my Outlet plates (Blatant plug ;D) coneected straight to the inlet manifold. Little boost... no need for intercooler Tweak the fueling or run the cold start injector off a boost switch Job done Thats far easier to say and visualise.... cutting metal opens up a whole world of headache and I design this kind of sh*t for a living ;D HTH Dom

I *think* the comp ratio is 10.5:1, the ecu is bosch motronic m1.7 and it's on afm. I can get some better pics in the morning.....
I was disussing this with Dom & PaulH at RCS, and it sounds like it could work....
I'm hoping for extra power AND extra torque, (the car doesn't have much torque to start...), preferably without too much effect on "pootling" fuel use.... tall order? :-\

hmm, tricky one, i would say your best option would be to maybe sell it to me for next to nothing... maybe?? hehe Little boost and no intercooler seems to be a favourite of VR6 owners using a supercharger (usually Vortech), never understood it myself (accept for space restraints of course), bunging hot and dense air into an engine doesnt strike me as sensible... heyho, maybe thats why I'm not an erm, like, engine guy maybe Ste btw, is it an M45 or larger???

I say use an intercooler for any force inducted application, low boost or high. Aquamist the water injection people do a very neat little injector box that can run piggyback to fuel for turbo applications. Not too expensive either, about £200.

Also the block is strong, very strong, think 1500Hp strong and youve got it. The M45 will be plenty to boost it, and better for space too. As for the light throttle cruising, a bypass valve can be used (Dump valve will work). This bypasses the supercharger and lets it spin freely, this way the pumping losses are minimised.

Its a roots type, positive displacement supercharger, it is not a Turbo, it is not a turbine type supercharger. it is not designed to create boost........... Its designed to move a set volume of air every revolution with no compression in the charger..... an intercooler is not neccasary and can adversley affect throttle response with roots/Eaton type charger installation. Boost is merely showing a restriction in the system somewhere. If you are seeing 9lbs boost, then change the exhaust to a free`er flowing one you will see a reduction in boost. THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS A CENTRIFUGAL SUPERCHARGER OR A TURBO. No disrespect (Your Imp is cool ) but Some more research reading required HTH Dom

Bit more than that, but yeah I do the "Tube Rat" thing as well when needed Blownimp..... Thats cool, historic is what I used to do as well, after Group C, F3, F1, Touring cars Etc. Where are you at Uni ? Swansea ? If so say hello to Chris for me (one of your Tutors, cant remember his sirname) I used to work for him while I was at Uni ;D Cheers Dom
